Goals
I want to tell you a story about three students. These students are ordinary in most of the ways that they live, but each one has something exceptional about themselves. The first student has a goal and a standard he has set for himself. The student’s goal is to be the top student academically in his grade. He studies for hours and hours on end for each assessment he takes. In class, he is always alert and picks up on the faintest sound of something that will be important for the next assessment. He is always waiting for the next quiz or test just, so he can keep his grade at it’s peak. His friends frown upon him, and say that he studies too much. His friends just don’t get what he is after they have different goals than he does. He works hard because hard work always pays off, and when doesn’t achieve his goal he knows he did not work hard enough. Not achieving his goal makes him correct his mistakes, and works even harder so he is guaranteed success. This goal is what drives him in life without his goal he would be ordinary.
The second student would also be ordinary if he did not have his goal. The second student wants to the most friendliest person in the grade. Willing to talk to anyone, the second student make sure that everyone has someone to talk to. He always wants to know what everybody is doing, and wants to know why they are doing it. He will listen to anybody no matter how boring the situation is. The student’s ears twitch whenever they hear something juicy that he could bring up to someone else. This student is like a spider constantly spinning webs of information to everybody. The student likes to learn, but not factual information. The student wants to know information about other students. The student can do anything he wants with the information share it or keep it a secret. This student is also very good at telling the truth because he can recall information from the past very well. He is also very helpful in arguments to because he can settle them quickly with his information that he has gathered. After he has achieved his goal, he just keeps spinning his web thicker and thicker.
The third student is not as focused on spinning webs, but instead helps lead tasks at hand. The third student devotes himself to sports. He is determined to be the best player in his category. The student is always practicing day and night. He spends hours on trying to get one move right, and then he practices it even more until it is almost perfect. When he plays he is calm and is always ready to lead the team or just cheer them on from the sidelines. When he goes for a shot he is like a sniper breathing slowly in and out in and out. His mind races a mile a minute but his eyes are in slow motion getting a precise angle on the target then he pulls the trigger. He hits the shot almost every time. After the game, the student goes home and practices even more adjusting his scope on another target. The student does this until his is the best, and then keeps going because he wants to maintain his record. Without these goals these three students would be ordinary, so these goals are what define them as individuals.
