Within All
There once was a man who loved to read. He liked reading books of all kinds, but especially books of mystery and adventure. He lived for the thrill of a quest and the suspense of an unsolved mystery. But most of all he enjoyed the peace and stillness of getting lost in a story. Only then could he escape to a world that was not like the one he lived in, but one of adventurers and dreamers.
He once read a book about a man who lived with a monster. He kept the monster behind lock and key because he understood the damage it could do if it were unleashed. Everyday the monster would try to trick the man into unlocking the cage, however the man would usually escape the monster’s trickery. One day the man was being tempted by the monster once again, the monster was telling him that he was disliked by most and that he would never reach his goals. The man barely resisted the temptation of the deceitful monster.
Later that day, he went to his job interview at a high end business on the north side of his town. After he finished his interview and went back home he anxiously awaited the ringing of his phone. As his house was filled with ringing, he grabbed the phone and took a deep breath. Answering the phone, the owner of the business explained to him that he was not right for the job. The man became angry knowing he had worked his whole life for this dream job. The monster seeing his opportunity to take advantage of the man tricked the man into giving him the key.
The monster destroyed everything in sight. The monster knew no mercy and even hurt the people the man cared about. The monster was blind to what it was doing, all it knew was destruction. The man eventually got the monster back into the cage and locked it swearing to never release the monster again.
The man begged the people he had hurt for forgiveness, but everyone he once loved now avoided him. The man spent years regretting his decisions until one day he met a humble man who offered him forgiveness and freedom from the monster if he only gave all of his sorrows over to this man. He was confused with the man’s offer and asked the man to repeat what he has to do. The man said that all he had to do is ask for forgiveness and his burdens would be lifted. He accepted this offer knowing that he had made mistakes and was growing weary of carrying the load of regret all on his own.
The rest of his life the man lived happily sharing the word of this “miracle worker”. He went to this man with all of his issues and the man happily took his burdens upon himself and always forgave the man. Finally, the man came to a point where he realized that his experiences may help others in their struggles, so the man dedicated his life as a testimony.
