The night
"I can forget about sleeping tonight!" Ian lamented grudgingly as he stared at the three-inch thick Science reference book lying still on the table top. It was one o'clock in the morning and he was staying up late to do his revision for the year-end exam the next day. As Ian continued burying himself in his study,he was badly shaken by loud piercing scream. Feeling uneasy, he made a dash to the window and peered out.
To Ian's horror, he saw his neighbour's door two tall silhouettes were seen darting about the house. Ian felt that something was amiss as his petite neighbour, Mrs Lee, lived with a toddler while her husband was away on a business trip.
" There must be intruders in the house." Ian thought to himself.
Ian quickly alerted his sleeping father who then rang up the police. Fearing that Mrs Lee could have already been in danger, Ian decided to take matters into his own hands while waiting for the police's arrival. Without seeking his father's consent, he reached out to the baseball bat hanging on the wall and scurried to Mrs Lee's abode. His heart was thumping very fast as he nearing the door. Both intruders were wearing balaclavas and Mrs Lee was seen lying unconscious on the floor. Within seconds, the intruders were done with ransacking the house and were going to flee with bags of valuables. Ian plucked up his courage to stop them from leaving.
" You must be courting death!"the intruder roared at Ian and a struggle ensued. When the intruders were about to overpower him, he could feel his life hanging by a thread. Just then, the police arrived in time and apprehended, his father reprimanded him for acting rashly. It was indeed a harrowing experience for Ian and he promised not to act rashly anymore.
