Sea Lions
"I never meant to get embroiled with those ferocious sea lions!" I screeched, squirming against the guards restraining me, "I only wanted mimic the penguins."
"Stop right now. You broke into the zoo. That is not permitted," one guard proclaimed. "There will be harsh punishments for your actions." The feeling of ebullience was all but gone by now, replaced by fear.
"But I didn't even get to reach the apex of the dam in the beaver habitat," I wined.
"There will be repercussions of your errant behavior," a different guard said sternly.
"But, but..." I said inarticulately. I didn't know what to say. Should I tell the truth? Should I say that I was all one silly little dare. No, they'll think I'm too juvenile. I must improvise.
I closed my eyes and took a breath. "Well..." I started before I was cut off by an old man in an orange suit.
"Release the child," He proclaimed. The guards released me from their grasp. I immediately rubbed my shoulder, which was being to feel sore from the guard's hold. "Leave," the man said forcefully, raising his right arm as he did so. The guards nodding assent before returning back to theirs respective posts. As they left, I caught the glimmer of one guard's eye. The eye glimmered red.
"Follow me," he demanded, turning the the direction he arrived from. I could think of nothing to do but follow.
"What?" I asked, but he was already too far away from me for him to hear my question.
"It's a good thing I arrived when I did or else you would have never gotten out of trouble," he said in a contemptuous tone.
"Who are you?" I questioned.
The man only responded with a derisive chuckle. "You will soon know, all in due time."
