An American Myth
Henry was just a mere boy, who enjoyed living in America. He had friends, family, and lived in a nice house. One day, however, Henry got word from his friends that his favorite fast food restaurant, McDonalds, was extremely unhealthy for you. This came as a great surprise to Henry, as he had always assumed it was healthy for you, because that’s what the restaurant always said! He knew that they would never, ever, lie to a loyal customer like him. None the less, he knew that he had to see for himself, though he knew that nothing would be wrong with it.
As Henry hitch-hiked to the nearest McDonalds, which was 5 minutes from his house max, he was talking to himself about “getting into McDonalds”. As if being summoned, as soon as he muttered the words, a hobo fell out a trash can near an abandoned Dairy Queen.
“Yo, kid, I heard you wanted to sneak into McDonalds. I’m a specialist at doing that, so I can help you out. No price needed!”
Henry nodded, and they began their training. For 30 minutes, Henry attempted to sneak into an abandoned Dairy Queen, and after that, he was ready to get into the McDonalds.
Henry entered the McDonalds, only to be faced with his first challenge: An evil cashier. The cashier kept insisting that Henry give him a tip, because he was poor, but Henry told him he didn’t have enough money. Just then, the hobo came in, pretending to be old women, and talked to the cashier. This allowed Henry to sneak into the back room, where he was acquitted with a very long and dark hallway that smelt like grease and fried food.
Henry entered the hallway and walked down it. At the end of the hallway, he was met with a pure white door that read “Manager”. Henry entered the door, and found a scrawny guy sitting behind a desk, playing angry birds on his phone.
“Who are you? Are you allowed back here?” threateningly asked the manager.
“I’m the new employee, Joe!” Henry replied.
“You look a little scrawny to be 16, but that doesn’t matter. Go clean up the back room, we need to put more gunk in the burgers!” said the manager, and like that, he walked out of the room into the hallway, muttering about “scrawny white kids”.
Henry entered the back room, and what he saw there scarred him forever. Inside, he found disgusting burgers that looked like they were made out of pink goop, and tons and tons of fried food. Henry was so shocked that he ran out of the back room, into the manager’s room, back out of the hallway, and out the door. Apparently, McDonalds wasn’t healthy after hall! Henry had to tell everyone immediately.
Henry told his friends, his family, and even some random guys on the street, until finally some old guy told him that everyone knew that McDonalds was so disgusting and unhealthy. Henry wondered why no one had told him beforehand, but then he realized that he had always shrugged it off. He vowed to never eat McDonalds again-only to find himself eating it a week later because he was sick of whatever home cooked meal he was having. (Hopefully he doesn’t get diabetes.)
