My relationship between me and my arch-nemesis is a strange one, mostly because it’s one that I made up specifically for this prompt. When trying to think of what would be my mortal enemy of life that I could write about I started to think of things and people I don’t like; like mustard, Jay Cutler, squeaky doors, cars that have those fart pipe things, Hillary Clinton, and when you have been eating chips and then you’re trying to get the lid off something but your hands are all chip covered so you have to get someone else to open it for you and it’s just a hassle. Long story short, I have put much time and effort into the decision of who would be my life long mortal enemy. That is why I have decided that my arch-nemesis, is STAIRS…
Yes stairs, I doubt you are surprised by my choice as it is the most obvious one. Stairs are evil, annoying, and the bane of my existence. For example when you are a small child and you learn to crawl you are now free, you control when and where you can go, unless you want to go up the stairs. As an infant I was forbidden from playing near the stairs, definitely for my own good. That baby gate was the only thing keeping me from experiencing the evil they contained in their steps. When I was about seven it was thanksgiving at my family’s house and I the 4 foot nothing child was tasked with carrying chairs down the stairs to be put away. After only the third step, I couldn’t see over the chairs I was carrying and the stairs saw their opportunity and struck. In a swift motion I went from walking to rolling down the evil flight of stairs with metal folding chairs following me the whole way down.
As you can see stairs are never to be trusted as they are pure evil and have only intentions to hurt people. My final example comes from 2 years ago my sophomore year at Papio-South. It was max out day for weight lifting class and I was preparing to squat a personal record of 350 pounds. I lifted the weight from the rack and proceeded to complete as many reps as I could, after I had replaced the bar I looked forward to sitting down and resting. Instead of being rewarded for completing a personal fitness record the stairs decided to punish me as I painfully and slowly climbed their evil steps one by one next period to English 10. I was late to class that day and the only person to blame was my mortal enemy, the stairs… Now not only had they affected my home life, they now were attacking me at school as well. Someday I will be able to overcome the malicious attacks of my life long enemy, the stairs.
