CuPiDs: Book One!
Chapter One, In Which The Cupids Are Formed.
It was the last day of summer. Greta Millerson, a tall 16 year old with cropped brunette hair, was eating lunch with her best friends, Millie, June, and Quinn. Millie was short and smart with coal black hair, while June and Quinn were twin sisters with wild, long, flaming red hair. June was a sports fanatic, while Quinn loved to write love stories. "Tonight is the end of summer festival! Let's go together!" Said Greta. "Sure, can we meet at your house? I want you to help me get ready for the fashion contest!" Squealed Quinn. "Yeah ok. Sounds good!" The bell rang. "Its class time, we better hurry. Mr. Jack is immensely strict, you know," Millie said shyly. They all got up, and went on to their classes.
At 6:30 PM, the girls left Greta's house, going to the local park where the festival was being held. After playing games, eating, and Quinn winning the fashion contest, they gathered to watch the fireworks. "They are so pretty!" Quinn squealed. Suddenly, a shooting star appeared amidst the blazing fireworks. "Make a Wi--" Before June could finish, she star changed courses and headed towards the girls! The star started to take shape, and within 5 seconds its form was obviously an angel. He landed, and suddenly the weirdest thing happened. Everyone but the girls and the angel froze. "Hi. I'm Gabe, and you four are the new recruits for the Cupids.
Chapter 2, In Which The Cupids Accept Their Destiny!
"W..What is g..going on?" June, who was the first to recover from the phenomenons that were happening, said. "Why is everyone except us frozen?" Millie said in her quiet manner. "I froze time, Millie Alderman." Gabe said. All the girls were dumbstruck. How did this angel get here, why was he here, and how did he know their names? "I guess you want to know what a cupid is. There are 100 cupids in the world. Their job is to matchmake couples who are meant to be. You four are the new recruits!" Suddenly, a device appeared in each girl's left hand. "That's your 'bow'. You can scan people and see their perfect match. You can also talk to other cupids." The 'Bow' didn't look like a real bow, but it looked more like a 3DS. "Press the button on the corner, and it becomes any object so no one can see what it really is." "So, what's the catch? Something this cool doesn't happen without something bad to go along with it," said Greta. "The catch is that you can't scan other Cupids, and your significant other will be a cupid too. That means he might be halfway across the world." Gabe said. "I will be sticking with you guys for the next year. You see, if you four can match 100 couples by next year, I can become human and be a cupid too!" Gabe said excitedly.
"Well, any other questions?" An hour later, after training of how to use the Bow, many questions, and one fight over whether or not this will ruin a sports fan's life, (A certain pair of twins were the people involved in that,) they were finally ready. "Let's do it!" June said energetically. "This is gonna be SWEEEEET!" Quinn said."Ok, starting the time back." The fireworks started again, but the girls weren't interested in them anymore. Greta took a gulp of air, then said: "Let's start scanning."
Chapter 3, In Which The Girls Get In Quite The Situation!
The girls finished hanging up the posters all over school. "Cupid Matchmaking Company! Only 1$ to find your perfect match!" The posters advertised. "Now, all we do is wait for our customers!" Quinn squealed. And by the end of school, customers they had. "I want to, like, know who is,like, perfect for me?" Lulu Johnson, referred to as "The Queen Bee" of the school, was the first in line. Greta disguised her Bow as a tablet, typed Lulu's name in, and found her perfect match. "Joe Red." She said with a smile. Everyone knew that Joe was perfect for Lulu, so Lulu would be happy to hear. "Eeeeeeek!!!! He is, like, the hottest dude in, like, the U.S.A!!!" Lulu squealed loudly. " This fortune is worth, like, 10$! 1$ is too little! Here, take 10$!" She gave Millie (She was the money manager,) a ten-dollar bill, then ran away shrieking with joy. Suddenly, the rest of the line ran away, and a tough looking, tall, rough guy came up to them. They all knew him as the toughest bully in school, Mark Rounder. "Listen little girls, you give me my perfect match or you get the fist." He said with a glare. "Uhhhhhhh, ohhhkay....." Greta said nervously. But before they could scan him, he looked at his watch. "Gotta go. I will give ya a week to find my perfect girl and set me up on a date with her. If you can't do it, you'll be sorry...." He walked away. The girls scanned him quickly, then gasped. "His perfect match is...." Greta couldn't bear to finish. "Oh no...." Quinn said in a frightened manner. "Its the nerdiest girl in school, Violet Grain...." June said.
Chapter 4, In Which The Girls Hatch A Master Plan.
"We will have to break it to him easily." The girls were gathered in Greta's room. "Let's set him up on dates where the girls get worse every time, then we set them up at the very end! Then the won't seem so very bad!" Quinn said. "It sounds like it will work." Millie said. "But wait, what if we can't convince Violet to go out with him? Or any of the others?" June said suspiciously. Greta grinned mischievously "Simple. Two words. Blind date."
"Gabe? We need you!" Greta called. Out of nowhere, the angelic boy appeared. "You called?" "We need reservations for a really bad restaurant. Two for one table, and four for one close to the first." Greta said. "Coming right up!" Gabe disappeared, reappeared within ten minuted with reservations, and the girls called Mark. "We had a little trouble finding you a match, so we are setting up a blind date for you each day all this week. Tonight you will meet at The Pop restaurant." Greta gave him the info, and hung up. "Alright ladies, call all the terrible ladies you know, 'cause we need a girl for the blind dates!"
After an hour of calling, they found the worst possible girls on the planet to go out with Mark. The first date was with Barbra Bennett, A.K.A "Bad Time Barb". "So what's the extra 4 reservations for?" Gabe asked. "Us, silly!" Quinn said. "Gabe, can you make us disguises? I don't want anyone to recognise us." Greta said. Gabe snapped his fingers, and instantly they all looked different. "Thanks Gabe!" Quinn said. "Now, its time to spy!"
Chapter 5, In Which EVERYTHING GOES WRONG!!!
Right as the girls arrived,( for they were quite late,) they saw
the date was going according to plan. Mark was yelling at Barb. From what they heard, she said she was vegetarian. Mark, apparently, was a hardcore carnivore. The girls sat down in the booth opposite Barb and Mark's booth. Two hours later, the two groups departed. One was disappointed about such a bad date, while the other was celebrating a victory.
The next day, another date went exactly according to plan. "Everything was perfect!" Quinn squealed, as they gathered at Millie's house after spying on the date. "Yeah, what could go wrong now?" Millie said. "Don't say that! It can always go wrong!!" But alas, before Greta could finish warning Millie, everything did go wrong. The door was forcefully opened, revealing Mark. "YO! I'm startin' to doubt you girl's skills in matchmaking. You better get this next date right or.." Mark made a fist with his hands, then walked away. "Well.." Quinn said. "so much for breaking him into it easily.."
Since nerds are most comfortable around their own kind, Millie, the nerdiest of all the group, was voted to ask Violet to go on the date. "Violet, will you please be our test subject for our new dating experiment?" Millie asked cautiously. "Well.. Ok. As long as I don't have to date some weirdo." Violet said. "Oh boy.." June said when Millie reported back. "Are we in fr some trouble.."
Chapter 6: In Which The Girls Lose Hope..Then Find It!
You'd think their lives depended on this date being a success if you saw how nervous the girls were on the night of the date. But, considering their circumstances, their lives probably did depend on this date working out. The girls nervously sat down at a booth, and watched Violet walk in. She looked as nerdy as ever. The girls groaned. Violet was a nice girl, but her fashion sense was less than adequate. "I should have given her a makeover or something!" Quinn whispered with utter despair. Mark entered the room, dressed in a tux. "What?! I told those matchmakers specifically 'no nerdy freaks!'"! He mumbled. "No he didn't! He never said tha--" "SHHHH!" All the girls interrupted Quinn before she could finish. Violet had heard what Mark said! "I may be nerdy, but I am no freak!" She said. The girls thought they as well write their wills, considering how well this was going! Suddenly, their luck changed. Instead of lashing out, Mark smiled! "Heh, you have spunk." He said. And suddenly, the impossible happened. The date went fine!
Chapter 7: The Case Of Mark and Violet Comes To A Close.
It had been two weeks since the situation with Mark. Ten matches had already been made! "We're going to get you back to human form in no time!" Quinn said cheerfully to Gabe. Quinn and Gabe had instantly become very close friends since she had become a Cupid. Right now they were hanging out at Quinn and June's house. "QUIIIIIIINN!!!" June yelled. "Coming!" Quinn said. "What's up, doc?" She said to June. "Mark called. He wants to see all of us Cupids." "Oh oh, I hope he isn't planning to pulverize us or something.." Quinn said uncertainly. They texted the others and met up with Mark. "I have something to give you.." He said in his gruff voice. Greta, the closest to him, prepared to get a black eye. But instead of a punch, his fist dropped a dollar! "I owe this as my fee for the match. Violet says I need to be nicer. I really do love her. Thanks." With that, he walked away. T girls just stood dumbfounded. "Wow..." Millie said. And the cupids decided, though the job was hard, matchmaking was a wonderful job to have.
Fin... For Now!
This story might be ended,
The matches have been made,
But this is far from over!
Because there will be other days!
Soon the girls will find something to.... Ugh! Writing in poem form is too hard! I will just say it normally, ok? Stay tuned for the next book in the series.. "CuPiDs: The New Kid!"
