The Greatness of Holidays
The year starts off with New Years. New Years is giving people a fresh start in the year to come. It is shown on TV with the great ball dropping and people shouting. The countdown for the new year is thrilling. You don't know what to do at the one second mark whether you should literally jump into the new year or just sit there. This holiday is the start to all other holidays.
Valentine's Day is next. This is a time to show your love to one another. You can buy gifts and candy for whoever you want. This holiday is a time to show appreciation by doing something such as giving someone a box of chocolates.
Easter, the first Sunday after the "Pascal Full Moon" is a fun day. You wake up and a bag of jelly beans and a chocolate Easter bunny is sitting next to you. You go downstairs and outside to look around for some hidden eggs that you colored the night before. This is a time to be together with your family.
Memorial Day, which comes on the last Monday of May is a time to remember those who fought for our country. It's time to give thanks to them and show our appreciation.
Fifth comes Halloween. Halloween is a time to dress up in your costume whether you are being a vampire or a snowflake and have fun and eat candy. You can wear whatever costume you want and get candy for it. You can hide in bushes and scare people or just stay inside and watch scary movies.
Thanksgiving comes in November. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks. It gets the family together with a great meal. The whole day you work at baking the turkey, mashing the potatoes, making the stuffing, and doing everything that is needed for it to be a great feast. This day brings everyone together.
Christmas is the final and best holiday of all. You wake up in the morning when it's snowing outside. Eager to go downstairs to the Christmas tree to see what presents you have gotten, and sad when the unwrapping is over. A nice breakfast including sausage and pancakes is a must. This day brings families together to share their love and to get presents.
After all of this these are done the year is ended by New Years Eve signalizing the new start of a year and to more holidays.
