I went up to the block and started to watch as the other swimmers were almost on their first 50, which is 2 laps. “I got this , I've done this a million time,” I thought to myself as I started to do a few warm up stretches. “1 2 3 4 5”, I said to myself as I shook my arms and legs getting them all stretched out for my event.
I started to feel the roughness of the almost cream colored diving board as the person before me started to finish. Finally . . .  I stepped up onto the diving board as the aroma of chlorine fill my nose. The room was blustering as everyone from kids to coach where cheering on their teammate. I heard a whistle signaling that the last person had passed the flags.  I look up and down the lanes to see if anyone from my team was competing with me, my team was Byron Center Bulldogs yet I did not see any of my friends.  WHISTLE! I stepped up to the block,
“Swimmers take you mark” commanded the official.
There was a pause, then. . . beep!” I jumped off the block . Then I dived into the icy cold water, at the moment It almost feels like you're in the final race of your life.
I got closer and closer to the wall . I turned my head swiftly as fast as the speed of light it felt like to see where I was compared to the other girl. Then I got to the wall and push myself off vastly and dolphin kick my way to the surface.  I was on my 2 nd lap and as I approached the other wall I could hear my name as my friends and coach cheer for me .
I could hear the crowd shouting, “go Arian go! Kick! Kick! Kick!”
Having my friends and coaches cheer me on kept me going strong like an ox fighting for food. As I got to 3rd lap I began feeling beat. My muscles started to grown tired, I keep thinking to myself “ you're not tired , you're not tired, keep going!”
“Finally , Finally,” I tell myself as I got to the last lap.
I continue down the pool length giving it all the strength I have left, pushing through the pain. Telling myself ,“I'm not tired , i'm not tired, keep going, you're almost there.”  I see the flag and kick harder than ever. I glimpsed to see where I stand with the other swimmers and I was right with them. I accelerated to the wall like a bird swooping in on his prey. My hands then hit the wall hastily as I look to up to the scoreboard. “YES.”I thought to myself as I become to realize how much time I dropped. The scoreboard was lit up with all the times of everyone in my heat. It was satisfying to look up and seeing my time. I couldn't believe I got first in my heat. I then turn to the girl next to me.
  She congratulated me,” Good Job!”
“Good job to you too,” I say back with a smile.
I turn to the other girl next to me and do the same, as we exchange our good job the second heat begin. All eight girls stepped up to the block.
As the Official say,” Take your mark”
We got ready to got out of the pool. I Hop out of the pool overjoyed with my performance. Although I was out of the pool I was very tired and need to go to the cool down pool , which is a separate pool you go in to cool down, quickly. Before I went to cool down I found my coach so I could talk to him.
“ Hey coach.”, I said as I approached him.
“Great job out there you did great. The only things I saw that you need to work on is getting your head down quicker. Other than that you did great! Now go cool down.” , He said.
“Okay!” , I said with .
I couldn't be happier with how I performed that day. I realized with all the hard work I had done over the years really payed off and got me far. That when you work hard and thrive for success it was pay off in the long run.
