Band of brothers: Part 2
After his team was given their purple hearts for their work at Bunker Hill, Commander Brayden, First Class Sergeant John Jaques, and Corporal Joey Jaques filed for retirement. They would have did another tour, but now they were dead tired of killing people. When they got back home John met this amazing woman named Jenny, and they started going out. Three years later two men showed up at Jaques’ door and they were dressed up in their military uniforms.
“Are you First Class Sergeant John Jaques?” One of the men questioned.
“Yes, who wants to know?”
“The president of the United States told us to pull you out of retirement temporarily, because there has been another break out at Bunker Hill.”
“No, I won't go, too much happened there, you can't make me!!” John hastily exclaimed.
One of the men pulled out his sidearm and said,” This is not up for discussion Mr. Jaques.”
“Come on fellas not in front of my wife and my three-month-old.”
“You are instructed to be at the airfield along with Commander Brayden and Corporal Jaques at 06:00 tomorrow morning sharp, don't be late!” Robertson explained.
“Fine”. John said through his teeth.
John showed the two men to the door, and slammed it right on their faces. John ran upstairs to start packing. When he got to his room his daughter, Skyie, followed him in.
“Daddy no go.” “Daddy no go.” Skyie begged him.
“I'm sorry honey, Daddy has to go.” He said.
Under the circumstances, John felt very proud that his daughter said her first words.
John held her with tears in his eyes and she started to cry on his shoulder. Jenny also came into the room and she got a hold of his other shoulder and started crying as well.
“How long does it say you will be gone?” Jenny questioned.
“At least a year, maybe longer.”
“That's too long, you can't go, I forbid it!”
“I know, but I have to go.”
“Can't they get someone else to go down there?” She asked.
“No, I'm the best, and they won't leave me alone.”
“What if you don't come back?”
“I will, I promise.”
John put his duffle bag and book bag by the bedroom door. Jenny left the room very flustered to go finish the load of laundry. It had been a very emotional night, all John wanted to do was get some sleep before his deployment in the morning. After Jenny was done with the laundry she came back in the room and cuddled with the love of her life. She was so upset that she could not even sleep a wink.
The next morning at 05:00 John got up and started moving. On his dresser he found a picture with him, his wife, and his daughter on it. He gave his wife a kiss on the forehead and lips, and covered her up with a blanket. John then moved to Skyies’ room and gave her a kiss on the forehead, and covered her up as well with her blanket. He put the photograph in his boot for safe keeping, and went downstairs to a knock at the door. It was his brothers, Commander Brayden and Corporal Jaques.
“Hey, are you ready?” Brayden questioned him.
“No not at all, but it's what we have to do”. SGT Jaques replied.
“I'll meet you at the convoy, I want to look around the house one more time, just in case I don't make it back.”
“Take your time man, we don't have to be there for another forty-five minutes.” Corporal Jaques said.
In just fifteen minutes Jaques met his brothers at the convoy. He took the picture from his boot and stared at it for a few minutes.
“We have an awesome family.” Sergeant Jaques told his brother.
“We sure do.” Corporal Jaques replied.
A few hours later Jenny woke up and went downstairs to a knock at the door, it was the babysitter for Skyie. Jenny went to her doctor’s appointment, and texted John about it and apologized that she did not tell him the night before. When Jenny got called back to the examination room and got examined, the doctor came back with some news…. Tears of joy filled Jenny’s eyes as the doctor told her that she was pregnant again.
She called to tell John the good news, the phone rang and John picked up, but there was an explosion in the background…. John saved his two brothers from the I.E.D that was planted, he barely made it out of there alive. Joey took John’s phone and talked to Jenny.
“Johnny…….Johnny!!!” Jenny screamed through the phone.
“It's Joey, Johnny got into a really bad explosion, but he is still alive and only lost some blood.”
“Let me talk to my Johnny.”
Joey handed the phone to his brother and Jenny began to talk to him.
“Are you ok honey?
“Yeah, I will be, I'm just in a lot of pain right now.
“Oh baby, I wish I could be with you right now.”
“I wish I were with you too my love.”
“I called with some great news, I'm pregnant again!!” Jenny excitedly screamed.
“Wow that's awesome babe, I have to go now but I love you soo much!”
“I love you too!”
When John hung up the phone, tears filled his eyes with joy and pain. The pain was coming from his leg, a long strip of flesh was missing from it. He yelled as loud as he could when the doctors were medicating it. In just a week his leg completely healed over, and he didn't feel any pain when he walked.
A year later John got on the list of people that were allowed to leave early. Jenny was waiting for him at the airport, and she gave him the biggest hug ever. Commander Brayden and Corporal Jaques also got to leave early, and everyone went to Jenny’s ultrasound. They found out that it was a boy, he was named Nicolas Joseph Souders.
