Strangers

"Do you know what I find funny?" She whispered into the phone one night.

"hmm," He responded tiredly.

"How everyday we probably walked by each other not really noticing one another. Wondering and stressing about other people who later turned out to be someone not worth mentioning," Her voice cracked a little as she continued. "and then you and I met and it was like heaven was burning but no one cared because it was heaven and we all had someone to protect us." He was trying my best to concentrate but he was falling asleep fast. It was, after all, 3 in the morning. "and we figured out each other. I learned that the color Red is the color of your room and you learned that I have obsessions with the colour of peoples eyes, and that yours fasinate me," a little snore came from the other end of the line and a tear fell from her cheek, "but in the end we still turn out a strangers, because all i ever do is sit here a pour out my heart to you just like a used to, but it's just words and a rhythm to rock you to sleep. A lullaby that you'll never repeat. The punch line is, even while holding hands, it feels like im walking past you as a stranger all over again."

The silent haze of the line beging dopped was the last thing he heard of her before, she too, dropped. Not off a telephone line, though the tight rope of life could be compared to one, but off a bridge. And for something to rushed and complicated, it was the most loved she'd felt in a long time.
