"Caw-ught stealing"
“CAW,CAW,CAW, oh no this can’t be happening to poor little me,” was the sound coming from a treehouse in the middle of the woods. The vibrant beautiful sun was out, shining upon the bright green grass. The treehouse was old, about 10 years old. “How could this be happening to me?” A small peacock lived inside the treehouse, along with a little mouse. Peacock was frantically rummaging around for something that seemed to be missing, throwing things, making the treehouse a complete and utter wreck, as Mouse was peacefully sound asleep in her nest. All of a sudden, Peacock stormed into Mouse’s room and screamed, “You snatched my mirror, you knew that I absolutely loved that mirror , so you took it. It was one of a kind it was per-fect” Mouse slowly opened her eyes, squinting from the bright lights coming from the other room.
Mouse quietly replied “Why would you ever think that? You let me live in your home because I have nowhere else to go. I don't have it.” Mouse looked worried as Peacock pranced into the room,
Peacock looked over Mouse's head then complained “How will I ever straighten my feathers now, they are messy, I have to look bea-u-tiful and you don’t like that because you don’t have feathers or merely a hair on your head, you’re just a mouse!” Mouse all of a sudden stood up on her paws and a single tear slowly rolled down her face, to her little nose,
Mouse screamed “If I’m just a mouse then I should pack my belongings and leave. You’re just a rotten-good-for-nothing-selfish bird ” Next, Mouse grabbed her new blanket made of leaves and twigs and left the room, not looking back.
“I can’t trust you anymore, you took my mirror,” Peacock called out. Mouse opened the door, slammed it closed, and Mouse was gone. Then, Peacock was walking out of the room when she noticed a shimmering object coming from the other room. Peacock took a better look and pranced over to it. The object seemed to be wedged in between the her nest and her feather supplies, she reached for it and grabbed the handle, it was her mirror. “Oh,no, I thought that mouse stole it, but really it was here the entire time, now I feel bad for kicking mouse out. I better go find her.” So, Peacock grabbed her blanket, that she had made with leaves and twigs, and made her way out the door, in search of her friend. She hollered “Mouse! Mouse! Mouse,”
“How could you scream at me like that, accuse me of something I could never have done, you are my friend and I would never steal your beloved mirror,” whispered someone from a nearby bush.
Then Peacock cawed back “Huh, where are you, we need to talk about what happened, I’m sorry, will you ever forgive me, that mirror is really special to me and I always want to look perfect.”
“Because you wanted your mirror so much, you have ruined our friendship, apparently your mirror is much more important to you than I am” said Mouse. Mouse began walking away when Peacock ran up to her and her feathers became ruffled, but she didn’t care all she wanted was her best friend back. She realized that their friendship was worth more than just an inanimate object,
“Please, come back to the treehouse” begged Peacock. Mouse had already decided what she wanted to do, she continued walking and walking through the woods never to ever return to that treehouse. Peacock sold her mirror because she regrets making a big deal out of nothing every single day of her life.
