Don't Be a Bat Friend
“C’mon Buttercup!” yelled Batterina the bat from across the meadow.
“Coming!” Buttercup was a pretty little butterfly who lived in the meadow across from the woods, where her best friend Batterina lived. They were flying to Lake Wings for a picnic.
“We’re here!” Buttercup announced happily. About an hour of talking passed, and Batterina had exciting news.
“I’m redoing my cave!” and Batterina flew a loop in the cool spring breeze with high-spirit.
“Oh yay! I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s done!” she was happy for Batterina, and it made her recall that she had news as well.
“I have something to say as well, I’m getting GLASSES!” Buttercup screamed with joy, but Batterina had something to say about her news.
“Oh, glasses are terrible. You're going to be made fun of and they're so annoying.” Batterina’s sly comment made Buttercup embarrassed, and not happy about getting new glasses. It suddenly became an awkward silence, but Buttercup acted like it didn’t bother her and carried on.
“Anyways, let’s have cupcakes!” Buttercup brought out dessert to change the subject. Batterina moved on as well and enjoyed the picnic. Soon it was time to leave, and as Buttercup was flying home, she was wondering why Batterina was unsupportive with what she thought was good news.
Maybe she was just tired out from all of the flying... Buttercup lied to herself, and decided to just leave the situation alone.
The next day the girls were playing in the meadow, and when it was lunch time, Batterina judged Buttercups favorite thing to eat, pollen on a stick, and told her it was unhealthy. For the next couple of days Battrina was becoming more and more negative about anything good that happened to Buttercup. Soon she just couldn’t take it anymore.
“Batterina, I don’t think we should be best friends anymore. You are being very rude all of the time, I’m sorry.” Batterina understood and flew away. Buttercup and her eventually met the right friends that fit their personalities. Although they weren’t best friends, they still were friendly to eachother here and there. But Buttercup knows to surround herself with friends that make her happy instead of sad and self conscious.
Moral: Be careful who you surround yourself with.
