I Hate Pier Pressure
“Happy National Race Day!” exclaimed Justin the Owl. The animals gathered to witness the national holiday where animals race to find out who is the best. This year the animals would gather on top of the Mountain of Doom. This was the steepest and most dangerous of all the mountains. This year the finish line was all the way down the mountain in front of the pier.
“ I am racing today, who wants to race?” asked Bella the Fox. Everyone in the crowd volunteered last years champion, Alfredo the Cheetah. So, Bella went to Alfredo and asked him if he want to race. In Bella’s amazement, Alfredo replied no.
Hence, Bella commenced her cleverness and began manipulating Alfredo, “So, you're chickening out of the race, Huh.”
“ No, I am not chickening out, I just don’t feel like racing down that steep and dangerous mountain, I don’t want to race,go bother somebody else!” Alfredo roared.
“Alright, I’ll tell everyone that the ‘fastest’ land animal is saying no to the race.” badgered Bella.
“You want this so badly, then fine you got it. Lets go right now!” exclaimed Alfredo. Then, Bella and Alfredo walked up to the mountain and told Justin, “ We’re ready, let's start the race.” Both Bella and Alfredo got into their racing positions, but with all their bickering about having and not having to race, it was already nighttime. So, they postponed the race until tomorrow. Alfredo thought about the decision he had made. He thought of what would happen if he were to mess up and fall while going downhill.
“I hope I don’t fail tomorrow, I’ll try anyways, I won’t be called a chicken.” mumbled Alfredo. Then, the next morning he went up to the mountain and got into his position and so did Bella. “So, you think you can win against me?” asked Alfredo.
“No, I don’t think, I know I can win.” replied Bella.
“Alright lets see who wins and whoever wins this will be the best racer ever.” said Alfredo.
Then, Justin the Owl came swooping in and said,”Sorry I’m late. Ok, ready, on your marks, get set, GO!” The race had began, Alfredo and Bella were off. Alfredo was out of sight in one minute but Bella was far away from him. Bella eventually caught up to Alfredo.
“Ha, you think you're the only one who wasn’t going full speed from the beginning!” exclaimed Alfredo. He suddenly blasted off like a rocket ship and was almost out of Bella’s sight.
Alfredo looked back to see where she was and yelled at the top of his lungs, “What happened to all that confidence you had.” While he was looking back he remembered what he had said about this hill being dangerous and laughed. He thought he over exaggerated about how dangerous this mountain because the finish line was in sight and he had not messed up yet. After, Bella screamed, “ALFREDO, LOOK OUT IN FRONT OF YOU!”
“What?” thought Alfredo. Then, Alfredo looked in front and saw Joe the strongest bull in front of him. He tried to turn out of the way but it was too late. He crashed into Joe, of course Joe didn’t feel anything but Alfredo took the full brunt of the force. He kept rolling all the way down to the pier which was the finish line. Laying on the floor, Alfredo muttered “I am never racing on top of this mountain again and I don’t care if anybody calls me a chicken, I am not doing anything that looks dangerous.“
Moral: Don’t fall to peer pressure, just say NO.
