The Light to Our Soul
Eyes, dark soulless eyes. People say that pictures and portraits have the most beautiful eyes, but I saw then for what they were dark lifeless black holes that seemed to never end. I pondered upon this artwork hanging off of an old crusty wall. The wallpaper seemed to have peeled back everywhere but around the painting. Somehow, this frustrated me. Everything about this stupid house frustrated me. The door with its cold, haunted knob. The peeled back wallpaper all throughout the miniscule house. But most of all that lifeless painting. The colors had faded and it seemed to have no purpose on the wall anymore. I thought for a moment, this painting has no purpose. No purpose at all. Just like me. A light went off in my head. I wasn’t frustrated with the picture, I was frustrated with myself and who I had become.
