Saturday Afternoons
I lay on the grass of the school’s new field basking in the warm late spring sun. It felt nice like this, comforting, like a warm hug your mom used to give you as a child when you were cold and scared in the middle of the night. The grass tickled my legs and the breeze moved the hair into my face, but I didn’t mind since this all felt so peaceful and I just wanted to stay like this forever. No stress from classes, no commotion of the kids in the hallway, I wanted it to be Saturday afternoon forever. Just then, I felt a drop of water hit my cheek, which startled me a little bit so I got up as it was my cue to leave since the rain will get gradually heavier. I put my earbuds in my ear to walk home, enjoying the beat of the song as it relaxed me. Lazy Saturday afternoons were the absolute best and what I always look forward to during the week.
