"The higher we soar the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly."-Friedrich Nietzsche

Throughout the rise and fall of the fates of men, history has never fail to repeat itself in the most brutal and persistent of forms. For all men are plaything of their temptations of appreciation and comfort, and under the skins of every person the ancient machinery of human nature drives society for centuries until now and for centuries ahead. Like the laws of heavenly bodies forged upon the creation of universe, mankind acts in a way so predictable that all people are but same except negligible differences of appearances and experiences, for that law is forged upon the creation of mankind.

The following tale is nothing but a homomorphism of every piece of narration of the nature of humanity, for the nature displays it in varies forms subject to circumstances, yet it remains consistent despite its appearance.
Yet within the cell, every soul struggles to its last minute against the current. Blinded by beliefs of impossibility, some imbue their lives with self-deception of promised salvation. The bones of humanity are dirty, but we’ve covered them well.

I lived my entire life on a ladder. I knew it is a ladder because my elder told me so. One end of the ladder extends toward the earth, and the other to heaven. I have never seen the earth myself, or the heaven, for that matter. I knew so because my elder told me so. There are many peoples on my ladder: some I have known, some not. Apart from people, what I can see from the ladder outward is limitless. The sight is more than beautiful. I will not go so far to state those are the purest cloud, for those are the only ones I have seen, but I enjoy the company of which more than anything else within my life.
One day I decided to explore the lands. First my elders tried to stop me. When I got away from them, I climbed down the ladder toward what is known as earth. On my way down, however, I was surprised by what I saw. The ladder I was living on was built on another ladder, a ladder closer to the condemned earth. Earth is condemned because my elders told me so. And that ladder is built on the one beneath it, and so on. The very thought that our ladder, the one where we valued our connection to heaven so much, is based on nothing but the condemned earth gives me thrillers. Shocked, I climbed back and asked my elders. “Why did you not tell me about this?” and the elder spoke, “I did not know so myself.” And so I was calmed. But curiosity drove me to ask another question. “But how is it so that our world, so pure and beautiful, is based on the evil on earth?” I asked. And the elder said, “Earth is our only thing to base on, so we better make good use of it.”
And that was my voyage toward earth.
And while we spoke, someone climbed up. On his body I smelt earth. So I said, this ladder is not meant for people like you. If you carry that smell up, our ladder will be polluted as well. That person was disappointed and climbed down.
But then I became curious. What will a better ladder be like? Will there be more cloud? Will there be less dirty smell of earth? With these questions I climbed up. Elder did not stop me. But at the edge of another ladder I stopped, for I saw someone put a barrier, an iron shield, against the linkage so I could not pass or persuade someone to let me pass. Disappointed, I came down. “This is not fair,” said I, “why do they abuse such power of iron working?” The elder said, “It’s not the power you’re unsatisfied with. Power is but a tool of magnifying what is already there.”
And that was my voyage toward heaven.

And one day I was mad at my elder, so I pushed him off the ladder. He fell toward an end of the ladder. It wasn’t until then that I realized that I had forgotten which end is hell and which is heaven.

This unconventional short story isn't exactly a story. It's a philosophical meditation of our world views at a fundamental level. We form our ideas by ducktaping a bunch of facts together and fill the rest with imagination-and that's how I wanted to present it.
