“Mother, Mother, I am here. Can you see me?” Alice cried. She looked at her mother, but her mother did not see her.
“Mother, why are you crying? I am here. Do not worry.” Alice tried to hold her mother’s hand, but it went through.
“Father, I am here! Can you see me? Why is mother crying? Do not worry. I am home now!” Alice tried to talk to her father, but no one saw her.
“Why does no one see me? What is happening? I hate this! I am here. Can anybody see me? Can anybody hear me?” Alice asked.
Her mother looked at Alice and said to Alice’s father, “Can you feel? I feel my baby Alice is here!”
“Do not be silly! She is gone!” Alice’s father was angry and yelled.
“I am gone? What do you mean I am gone? I am here right here! Why does no one see me? Mother, Mother, your baby is here!” Alice cried and felt hopeless.
Alice’s mother went to a box labeled Alice and picked up a jacket. She held it in her arms and cried, “I just cannot believe that she is really gone, how did people do this when they lose a child, you know… you know that feeling that you were a parent, but suddenly you are not anymore… my Alice, my baby, only 13. It is unfair. Why did this happen to me?”
“Honey I know, but what has happened has already happened. We cannot change,” Alice’s father said and held her mother. There were tears in his eyes. He could not cry. He had to be strong for this broken family. Alice looked at her parents and suddenly knew something and cried, cried so hard, but no one was there for her.
