Come Home Please!
The sound of the alarm clock broke through the dream of Calsey Kay’s dream. Once again it was May 15 and the only thing on Calsey’s mind was her father. Her father left for the military 5 years ago and has not returned from overseas. Every year the only present she wanted was her father to return. This year was special for Calsey because she was turning 13 years old and she wanted this birthday to like no other she has had before.
Calsey was at school in her boring math class. Would her father return to see her? That was the only question on her mind. Truly she knew that he would miss her birthday again. The sound of the school bell broke through her thought. She packed up her stuff and left the math class room and headed for athletics. She played volleyball and she was really good at it. After she got ready for volleyball she was out on the court warming up. Fifteen minutes passed when the principal and her mother walk in to the gym. “Calsey will you please come over here we would like to speak to you,” the principal said. Calsey did as she said to. As she approached them Calsey’s mother said,” I have a very special surprise for you.” All of a sudden Calsey noticed a man in a military uniform was walking toward the gym. As memories flooded back, tears streamed down Calsey’s as she realized it was her father walk towards them. Calsey run up to him and gave him a big hug. “I came home to see you and your mother, Calsey,” her father said as he set her down. “I missed you very much,” Calsey said as she wiped the streaming tears from her face. As they approached the principal and her mother.” I love you so much Calsey you do not even understand,” her father said as he put his large hand on her shoulder.
That was the first time in the 5 years, which seemed like forever, she has heard him say those words. “I love you too, Daddy,” Calsey said as she realized the volleyball girls where serving. “Now should we go out to dinner and celebrate my return and your birthday,” Calsey’s father said as he clasped his hand together. “That sounds fun,” Calsey said, with excitement.
