The Shadow
The Shadow
One day there was a girl named Lizzy she was 7 and her birthday was on October 30th. Well, it was in the middle of September so she had to start planning ahead because there was only one month left before it was the day. Then something crazy happened! On October 10th, my family and I had to rush my grandpa to the emergency room. Lizzy said, “He’s having a heart attack! Hurry mom hurry!” He had already had two since last May this will be the third or fourth one this year.
It was too late he had already stopped breathing. We got to the emergency room, they tried all they could do but it did not help. His funeral was October 20th almost on her birthday, did she really want to have a party now? “I am going to ask mom what to do about this whole thing, because I do not really want too now.” Lizzy said.
Today is the day “I turn 8, I am sad because grandpa is gone.” Says Lizzy. “I will just be happy cause I k now that is what grandpa told me to be is just smile even on a bad day.” One month later here it was November and a crazy glass plate falls off the self.
Lizzy looks that way and there was nothing to see. Just then in the distance was a black shadow! “What was it and why has it come to this every point. Could it be grandpa? I miss him very much.” Said Lizzy. It looked like the shadow was coming at her.
Lizzy remembers when she was 3. That her grandpa took her on her birthday to go buy ice cream. Then the shadow started moving toward the rocking chair. It sounded like the shadow said something. It sounded like the shadow said, “Hi Lizzy I have come back to bring you news and hints.” Lizzy just stood there listening to everything the shadow had to say.
The shadow started bringing back memories of her and grandpa, like at the zoo when they feed the zebras and lions. Then a lion scared her and she almost fell on her face, but grandpa was there to catch her. The shadow started humming a song she thought she knew that grandpa used to sing to her every night.
Lizzy figured out that only she could see the shadow. She went to bed because Lizzy knew she had to get up in the morning and help mom go shopping. “Goodnight mom I love you! See you in the morning.”
Lizzy woke up that morning and put on her t-shirt and blue jeans. When she went to eat breakfast, the shadow was nowhere to be seen. Lizzy went to the kitchen and got a bowl and her favorite cereal. Lizzy heard mom yell hurry time to go. So she went and put on her shoes. “ I put dinner in the oven so we have to get back soon.” Mom said.
Mom said “Get one soda for this week.” Lizzy said “okay mom I am getting Mountain Dew.” Lizzy grabs a two litter and puts it in the buggy. They are putting bags in the truck. “Do you want some ice cream Lizzy?” Said mom. “Sure mom that would be nice.” Said Lizzy.
Later Lizzy goes and finds the rocking chair still empty. Where has the shadow gone?
