Sylvester Roland
Due to the fact that there are millions if not billions of stars that are burning out there in the night sky not every single one of them can have a story written about them. Much less a legend. But Sylvester Roland was drastically different than all those other stars out there. Sylvester Roland deserved a story.
He rested in the middle of the Milkyway Galaxy, where there's a small planet called Earth, and he shone bright. Oh, he was just brilliant, how bright he shone. When he was first created, he had many friends. Like Marco and Alfie, but eventually they grew jealous of Sylvester Roland's brightness. As this is how most legends are formed. You'd think that this abnormally bright star would be cocky and rude but in reality he was possibly the sweetest star out there in the galaxy. So when he was abandoned by these other stars who called themselves his friend he was devastated. And it only made him kinder.
He tried; he tried to not be the brilliant star that he was born to be. But he couldn't help how bright he was shining, he couldn't stop being brilliant. When those 'friends' of his moved away he had to shine all by himself. Soon there were even more people paying attention to him, soon everyone was impressed by the magnificent star. Except those stars, he cared about.
That's when a satellite jetted by him. PS742 was his issued number, and his close friends call him 42. When he passed by Sylvester Roland, he had to slow down because it isn’t every night that you see a star shine as bright as this one.
Other days Sylvester Roland would have greeted the satellite kindly and maybe had a nice conversation. But today Sylvester Roland was especially sad, missing those 'friends' of his. PS742 saw how sad he was and decided to take action.
He gave him the best advice one could give to another. He told him how there are those out there who you would love but would rip your heart out and how there would be others that would put your heart back in. So choose who you keep close wisely.
That's when Sylvester Roland, the brightest and most insecure star out there, realized that those who left him couldn't possibly deserve to be with him. Not because he was better than them but because anyone who was jealous of him couldn't possibly be a good friend. So he asked PS742 to sit and stay with him awhile. PS742 wouldn't dare leave Sylvester Roland alone until he knew he was strong, so he sat and stayed awhile. Eventually, PS742 jetted off to see the galaxy because we all know satellites don't stay in one place for too long. Of course, he didn't leave without knowing that Sylvester Roland had real friends.
When you go outside and look up at the brilliant night sky you can see Sylvester Roland, shining bright in the middle of the Milkyway. If you're really lucky you'll be able to see him and PS742 sitting together, laughing at us humans. But if he's all alone make sure to wave so Sylvester Roland knows he's never alone.
And that's the story of Sylvester Roland and PS742, the greatest pair this universe has seen in quite a while. It’s a reminder that those who shine the brightest may just be the saddest. It’s a reminder that those who may look happy now may have overcome great things to get to where they're at. It’s a reminder that we all hate to be alone, no matter how big or small, bright or dark, happy or mad. But most of all its a reminder to look up.
