Caterpillar
She sat on the ledge. The whole world slowed down. It always just revolved around her problems up until now. She stopped thinking about what was going on with her and just focused on the inchworm. In this huge polluted city filled with sadness, depression, sweat, hard work, heartbreak; that blossom of life sat on the tan rock. The stone was curved where she was sitting, it was rough. She watched as the little green creature inched its way only thinking of how to survive multiply and provide. She watched it and started thinking again. Thinking about the inchworm. It wouldn’t be a butterfly but it would fly. It would fly in her dreams tonight. She thought about the inchworms view and if it thought this whole mess was natural. She lightly picked it up. She decided not to jump afterall. She decided that inchworm that would fly in her dreams, that would live in a field with an abundance of flowers would help her get off that ledge. She decided shed take it to live in her garden. She decided this caterpillar would help her create a new goal. To make the world more caterpillar friendly. She covered the catipillar with both her hands to stop him from blowing away. To keep it safe. She attempted to get off the ledge of the building. As she pulled her leg over to the other side she saw the catipillar crawing out of her hands and she lost her grip. Not on the catipillar. She fell screaming off the building. She screamed not out of fright of dieing but out of fright of her new goal dyeing. As she fell the world went by slowly. For her not for the civilians around her. She noticed the catipillar on her leg grabbed her as quick as she could and clunched her fists in hope of saving the catipillar.
She scooched towards it not worrying about the fall. She watched closely as it inched on by. She thought about the inchworms perspectives how it desperately wanted green lusch plants, how its main thoughts were about survival, reproduction and eating. It didn’t worry about the common human issues. It didn’t worry about the pollution. It probally thought this whole mess was naturally accuring. She studied the green creature and realized it wasn’t the kind of inchworm that would morph into a butterfly. It wouldn’t be able to sore about the city looking for some nice persons small garden. She knew it wouldn’t be able to fly but she knew it would. She knew it would sore in her dreams. It would take flight filling her thoughts with hope, with light and lusch plants. That poor inchworm, the little green creature that helped her calm down and just forget her human errors; she would give it an abundance of flowers and its very own pair of wings. She focused on the small patch of green surrounded by the dusty gray city. There was a reason. There was a new goal for her. She studied the catipillar watching it inch closer and closer to her pair of blue shorts. She took her eyes of the catipillar and looked around her. Why jump now? She looked at the steep drop and the people with their cars living their lives. It wouldn’t be a good idea. She looked at the smoky sky then back at the little piece of green hope. She carefully and gently scooped it up. Immediately after grabbing it she pulled it close to her chest and sighed. She could start over. She could finnish colleage in the city. Tend to her little dried up garden where she would keep her new friend. She could move out of the city… no. She decided what she would do. Shed help make the city a better place for her little friend. She looked down once more but instead of feeling the eurge to jump. Instead of feeling sad and depressed. Instead of feeling like the stress was going to push so hard on her sholders that it would shove her off the edge to her doom. She felt happy. She felt like she had a big journey to accomplish. She felt like she needed to go home and roll up in her cacoon, get some sleep. And eventually shed bloom. She grow her wings and go to something to help her friend. She was a bit more aware of her surroundings and was worried about falling. Not with this new goal. She couldn’t fall. She moved her leg causiously back onto the roof. She was going to move the other one but a door swung open to the roof and startled her. She fell over the ledge. Her leg still bent over the side keeping her from completely falling off the ledge. She hit her head on the side of the building and her other leg slipped. She lost her grip on the caterpillar. As she fell the world slowed down for her. As if they drop was taking forever. For the civilians it happended quickly so they didn’t she what she did. Before she fell she noticed her little green creature that almost saved her life. She grabbed it and held tightly trying to save her friend from her impending fate. She wished she could live to see what would happen to him and what would happen in the future to the city. Would it become more eco friendly? She felt a cool piece of metel on her back and then hotness then nothing. She awoke in the hostpital. Somehow she survived. Miraculously hadn’t received to much brain damage and could still function the same mentally. Most of her bones were broken and she would never be able to walk again. She weeped. She was feeling confused. Why wasn’t she happy before. Now she wouldn’t be able to do half the things that brought her joy. She looked over to the window. The room was dark and the window let in a bit of light even though there was a shade. She didn’t want to see outside because she knew all there would be was buildings. She heard the door open and saw her sister come in. Ironically her sister was at the coffe shop a block away from where she almost died. She placed some flowers next to the table by the door. The girls eyes sparked as she saw her sister and the flowers. She asked if she could hold them. They were real thankgod. The sister placed the flowers on the girls chest since both of her arms were broken. She smelled the flowers and saw something move in the plastic wrap that held them all together. It was a catipillar. Maybe.. it was her friend. A flower shop was next to the car she fell on. She asked her sister where she got the flowers and it was the gift shop in the hostpital. Maybe the catipillar got their somehow. Maybe it was in the ambulance the girl was in. She tried to think about cowinsedences that could have happended. She looked at the catipillar and then thought it didn’t matter she had her hope back and her goal. She was happy.
