2015 NFL draft

Draft day.

We are waiting here in Indianapolis, Indiana at the combines waiting for these stars to show off their talents and live their dream of becoming a NFL player. All 32 teams are there waiting to see who they are willing to use their first round pick on one of these players for their team. And now, the combines are starting. The first player testing out his skills on the big stage is Cean Shands. He is a 6’4, 235 pound quarter back. I heard that he’s got lots of potential as a big, strong quarter back who is very athletic and can make people miss in the back field. Lots of people have compared him to the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger. I think Cean Shands is most likely to be picked number one. Quarterbacks aren’t normally picked number one, but he is a once in a 20 year kind of player. He starts his combine with a couple play-action passes down the field and they’re not getting where they should be. But then he gets to work and makes some great on target passes to the wide receiver and gets the scouts writing notes on the quarterback out of Arizona. And his combine is over. He had a great combine. He showed everything that he could do and they were impressed.

The second pick on Mel Kiper’s board is the running back Kirk Salsa. He is a power back out of the running back position. He can get you 4 to 6 yards on a consistent basis and is just a beast when he’s alone with him and a corner back. He plays to contact and always falls forward for the extra yard. He’s a tank at 5’10 and 225 pounds, the running back out of Alabama. Nick Sabin said that he has never seen a player like him in all the years he has coached at Alabama. He could move up to the number one pick very easily with a good combine. And he is starting his combine right now. He has one big weakness and that is catching balls out of the backfield. That is the only thing keeping him from being an elite running back and if he can’t bring everything to the table he won’t be a difference maker in this league. But that is what the combine is for and he’s doing it right now, catching balls out of the back field. He is missing them right now and Salsa is very mad at himself. But then he gets to catch the footballs that are thrown at him. He didn’t do his best, but he didn’t do horrible. This is a packed 2015 draft and there could be a lot of picks you wouldn’t have thought of, but Salsa ran a 4.35, 40 yard dash. A great time!!! Wow, I didn’t think anyone thought Salsa had that much in him.
There is about five people go and we’re at a brake or bust player. He’s a wide receiver from the University of Cincinnati. His name is Scott Carroll. He’s a 6’8 wide receiver and is a beast when it comes to bringing down the big passes. He can catch the ball over everyone and runs a 4.22, 40 yard dash. I think he is the fastest player in this draft, if not the NFL. His only problem is that he does not like to get tackled. He will run out of bounds to avoid any contact and that will not work in the NFL.
There are about ten more people go and we now come to another quarter back. His name is Eric Schwartz. He is a speedy quarterback just like Johnny Manziel. He ran a 4.03 and no one can catch him in open space. His weakness is his arm strength, but when he gets drafted to a team he’ll be lifting the weights to get a lot stronger. There is still a lot more people to work out, but we are going to move to tomorrow where the first round of the 2015 draft will come live from Radio City, New York.
Here we are just hours away from the Green Bay Packers being on the clock. In just a couple of hours they will take the red carpet and get surrounded by all the microphones and all the ESPN people are waiting to interview the new NFL players. While the interviews are going on me, Chris King, Jake Crop, and Johnny Zech are arguing about what we think will happen. I personally think Cean Shands is going number one with his athleticism and his size. Chris King jumps in and argues why the running back from Alabama, Kirk Salsa is going to go number one and why a strong running back is one of the most important spots on the football field. Johnny Zech says the left tackle from Ole Miss is going number one because he can stop even the best line backers trying to come in and sack the quarter back. And it’s the quarterbacks blind spot so it protects the quarterback, but we will not know until we watch it in 15 minutes. The commissioner Roger Goodell is about to take the podium. And he has taken the podium and he says while the crowd boos, “The Green Bay Packers are now on the clock.” The Packers should get the number one pick in Cean Shands, but they could go with the running back out of Alabama, Kirk Salsa. He is a beast and can power your run game and your offence in the red zone. The Packers have the phones working and it is a very hard pick. I said to my friends, “Could the Packers trade down with all the pressure of the number one pick?” Chris King says, “I don’t think so because they could get another offensive beast to go with Eddie Lacy, the running back and Aaron Rodgers, the best quarterback in the game. And the pick is in the pick is in.
Roger Goodell goes up with a slow walk and speaks into the microphone “And in the 2015 NFL draft the Green Bay Packers select Scott Carroll, the wide receiver out of Cincinnati!!!” What a gutsy pick by the Green Bay Packers. Cean Shands is just stunned. He can’t believe it. But it was almost a no brainer to pick the wide receiver when you already have a franchise quarter back.
The Minnesota Vikings are now on the clock. “I think Cean Shands will go here.” Chris King says “Yes, I agree.” I tell him. And with 6 minutes on the clock the Minnesota Vikings have their pick in. Roger Goodell says, “And with the second pick in the NFL draft the Minnesota Vikings select Cean Shands, the quarterback out of Arizona.” He’s got the most potential out of all the players in this draft. He’s strong, athletic, smart, and fast for a 6’4, 235 pound quarterback. His skills are amazing and I think the Vikings just got a franchise piece to go with Peterson.
Now, the Bengals are on the clock and I just got a call saying that they traded that pick to the Chicago Bears for their first rounder next year. So, the Bears are on the clock. Their selection is in. The pick is in and the Chicago Bears select Tavan Hash, the wide receiver from Kentucky. Tavan is a small wide receiver at 5’10, but he is super fast. He acts like Wes Welker for the Broncos and he has amazing hands and will work hard on the field and off the field to.
About five picks go by and we are at the Seattle Seahawks pick. They already have their pick in. Austin Zeek, the tight end from New Zealand. Austin is a big, physical tight end who is not afraid to go across the middle to catch a pass and get drilled. But he can also play defensive end if they want to put him there.
Now, we are at are last pick of the night with the Denver Broncos. And their pick is final and they chose Brook House. Wow, that is a really random pick. He wasn’t supposed to get drafted till the 3rd round, but here he goes in the first round. And we are done for the drafting here in radio city New York. And that is the end of the 2015 NFL draft.
