The Fortune Cookie
I am Brian Luvicar and this is the story of how my life went wrong. It all started on April 17th 2008 when I was at a Chinese restaurant. I had just finished my meal and than the waiter brought some fortune cookies with the check. So I picked up the check and paid it and than I opened a fortune cookie. The little white paper fell out and I ate the cookie, but when I read the paper it said “Brian. You are in danger. Leave town immediately and tell no one.” I thought it was really weird so I made a police report and went home.
The next morning I woke up to the sound of a gunshot. My window shattered and I rolled off my bed onto the ground. Then I heard a car engine start and when I got up it was far enough away that I couldn’t make out the plates. All I could tell is that it was a black van. From that point on things kept getting weirder I’ve been in a constant state of fear and anxiety. I didn’t call the police or anything but I did leave town. I even left the state and went to Florida and settled in.
It took about a month to get all settled into my new place and I thought I was safe at that point until one day I got a call. I answered the phone and I heard a deep scruffy voice saying, “Brian don’t try to run, we will always find you,” and I just hung up hoping that they didn’t have enough time to track my phone. Unfortunately they did. I stayed in my house for the rest of the night, but the next morning I went on as if it was a normal day. On my way to Starbucks, I was in my car when a bullet went whizzing past my face. The bullet was about one centimeter from the tip of my nose. My window shattered and the glass got in my eye so I had to go to the hospital to get it removed. At the hospital the doctors asked me what kind of car it was. I told them that I couldn’t tell what kind of car it was because I was to distracted by the bullet I was getting shot by. They couldn’t get the glass out of my eye because it was a big chunk and it was stuck, so they just gouged my eye out and now I have to wear an eye patch all the time. The good thing about needing an eye patch is that now my job is starring in plays as pirates.
After a few days I went home and I packed my things for another move. This time, since I like Florida, I stayed in Florida and I just moved to different part. Where I got settled in again and I was finally away from those guys that shot me for a while. But then after about a year I was treating the day like any normal day when I was in the middle of a play. I heard gunfire when I fell over in pain and passed out. The next thing I know I woke up at the hospital and my lower left leg was gone and replaced with a little wooden stub. I was extremely shocked and I asked the doctor what happened and he said the injury in my leg was too infected and they had to amputate my leg.
At this point my life is basically ruined I have no leg and no eye but luckily I received a call. The person on the phone said they have my parents and they gave me an address to go to in exchange for my parent’s life. I called the police and I went to the address with the police. There was an old abandoned house that I went into and they had my parents at gunpoint. I screamed and than the police came rushing in and they got the two men to surrender. Now I am reunited with my parents and I am finally safe. Both of the people got lifetime sentences in prison and I lived happily ever after.
