Happy Ending. Right?
I don’t know how this happened. It started as a normal day. I was just walking to school when all the sudden I was grabbed from behind and thrown in the trunk of a car. I didn’t even have time to scream. My mind was racing. What was going on? I felt around for my phone, but couldn’t find it. Starting to hyperventilate, I tried to take a deep breath. It sort of helped. It calmed me down enough to realize that my phone was a foot away from me. I grabbed it and hugged it to my chest. When I went to go call someone the car made a quick stop, making me roll into what I think is the back seat. I waited, holding my breath. Not knowing what was going to happen. A minute or two later we started going again, this time I tried to brace myself. I released the breath I was holding and unlocked my phone.
Immediately I went to the keypad and dialed 911. I pressed the call button and nothing happened. I looked to see if I had a signal, and of course; I didn’t. Tears came to my eyes and I silently started to cry. Why me? I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t think my family did either. Wait…one of the reasons could be is my family is rich. These people probably want some money. Whipping my eyes I took another deep breath and waited, watching the signal on my phone. Waiting, waiting, and waiting. It seemed like forever but it was only about ten minutes before I got a signal. Finally! I dialed 911 again and pressed the call button.
"911, what's your emergency?" The voice asked.
"Uhm. I've just been kidnapped," I replied quietly.
"Okay. What's your name, sweetie?"
"Samantha Jones."
"Alright, Miss Jones, do you have any idea where you’re at?”
“No. They locked me in the trunk of their car.”
“That’s alright, we’ll use a GPS locator to try and find you. Just stay on the line with me and remain calm.”
Just as I was about to reply, the car stopped. My eyes widened and I put my phone on mute and hid it in my bra. Hoping they wouldn’t find it. The trunk opened and I felt a pair of hands grab me roughly. I didn’t try to fight, I was too afraid of what they would do. The person who was manhandling me placed my feet on the ground, but quickly grabbed my hands and held them behind my back, tying them with a rope, tightly.
He let go of me and I winced. All of the sudden there was someone in front of me, and he was huge. My eyes widened, and I wanted to scream, but no sound would come out at all. Suddenly, his hand was over my mouth, making sure I couldn’t scream.
“You’re coming with me, princess,” he growled.
My head dropped to my chest and I followed him, not wanting to get hurt. We got into a room and he shoved me into a chair, tying my legs to it, untying my arms, then tying them to the chair. He then put a piece of tape over my mouth.
“Now, hopefully you can be a good little girl, and you might get to go home. Will you be good?” he asked. I nodded my head.
“Good, now do you know why you’re here?” I shook my head.
“You know you’re daddy is a very powerful man.” I nodded my head slowly. “I didn’t want to cause too much trouble, but he owes me a lot of money, and well, he hasn’t paid me back yet. You, my dear, are collateral. When your daddy pays me back, he will get you back. If not, then you get to stay with me.” he grinned an evil grin.
Tears came to my eyes again and I dropped my head to my chest. How did my dad get into this situation. He’s always been rich and powerful, and I know he has enemies, but who in their right mind would kidnap a fifteen year old girl, just so he could get money. I knew I should’ve let my mom drive me this morning, but I was too stubborn. The tears silently came out of my eyes. The guy didn’t leave, so I left my head down. I wonder if the police lady is still listening. I hope she was.
It was silent for a long time, and my tears finally slowed to a stop. I peeked up and saw the guy was on his phone. Didn’t look like he was doing anything important, just playing games. That thought made me smile a bit, he was still a slightly ordinary guy who loved to play on his phone. I looked back down and stayed that way, hoping that I would be found quickly.
All of the sudden, his phone rang. I jumped a little and looked up, he answered it.
“Hello,” he said.
I couldn’t hear what was being said on the other end.
“They’re what! Son-of-a…how did they find us? Huh? No one followed you right? Well he needs to pay us back one way or another, and I think I know the best option.”
When he said that he looked at me and evily smiled again. My heart started racing. I didn’t want to die. I was too young, and I didn’t do anything. Wait, but the police should get here first, things like this turn out in happy endings. I started crying again and looked down. Just then I felt the barrel of a gun lift my chin up.
“Don’t cry, sweetheart, I’ll make it painless. Oh, and nice trick, hiding your phone somewhere, so the police could find you,” he said, that smile still on his face.
I started shaking my head no. Hoping he would take the tape off so I could talk.
“Nice try, doll, but that’s not gonna work.”
Banging on the door. Yelling. It was the police! My tears started to subside and I looked up. The guy looked confused and angry. Suddenly the door was broken down. I turned my head to look at my saviors when I felt a pain in my chest. I turned back around and looked down. Blood was soaking into my shirt. My eyes rolled back into my head, and I fainted.
Vaguely I could hear people telling me to stay with them, but it was too late. They couldn’t save me. I knew it, and so did they, in the back of their minds. Slowly, I drifted off into my never ending sleep. Hoping my family would stay safe.
