Tonight is the big party, stocked up on beer and liquor, tonight will be a good night. As the people started filtering in and out of the cooler, almost no alcohol was left. People were stumbling around the house while others occupied the bathrooms throwing up in every sink, shower and toilet available. I had full intention of drinking tonight but after seeing what others had done while being drunk, I gave it another thought.

The kids whom I thought were quite or conceded had grown to be loud and boisterous. The girls whom I thought were prudes had suddenly become the life of the party hooking up with every boy in sight. As I took a step back watching the party go on, I noticed everyone was not themselves while drunk, but sometimes not acting yourself looks appealing, I thought to myself. I suddenly felt envious, everyone was smiling and having a good time while I was sitting here just observing.

Searching through the house I stumbled upon the parents’ stash of alcohol. Grabbing a bottle for myself I finally began to join the party. As my friends and I cheered for the night’s success, we simultaneously took shots and shot gunned beers. While celebrating with my friend Dylan on our win in beer pong, I saw blue lights in the distance. All the kids went silent, looking around we all froze, “Cops” we yelled and dispersed out into the night.

Dylan and I ran as far as we could away from the house. Suddenly Dylan fell on a tree stump hurting his leg. The drunk part of myself began to laugh but the other sober part of me turned worried. While Dylan tried to get up cops swarmed him, putting him in cuffs. Watching from a distance I knew I had to keep running, I couldn't get arrested for underage drinking, I would lose my scholarship, be grounded forever and worst of all loose the trust of my parents. Continuing on the path I found a ditch in the forest floor, I leaped into it and covered it with leaves. Holding my breath, I prayed they wouldn’t find me.
