Dear Lawrence,

I am not in love with life on earth. I have become bored with it’s repeating pattern and calm flow. These people become trapped in cages that they have created for themselves. I write to you not to discourage you from appreciating the call of a magpie or blare of a car horn, but simply a sharing of opinion from my experience on this planet. However, I have discovered a few things about the human race to be truly miraculous and remarkable at the same time.

Birth: They do not remember being born. They do not remember being created. How strange is it to know you are living but unable to remember the start.

The sound of lungs inhaling and exhaling: Observe this while exercising and in the moments before sleep. I have concluded each breath to be unique in length, sound, and depth. A baby’s breath is an entirely different noise than an elderly’s.

Lying down in the grass: Press your palm down into the soil and touch the earth, you will feel its heartbeat and realize this planet is a living creature as well.

The moon: this is the one of the only relationships humans have with the outside galaxy, I have found it worthwhile to spend hours gazing at this circular white spectacle.

The alignment of teeth: these small, geometrical bones vary in size and shape depending on each person. Astounding, don’t you think? I am constantly wondering why and if this alignment is coincidental. Nevertheless, each tooth interests me further.

The first time you blink your eyes each day: good morning

The last time you close them: good night. Is this how we determine a day’s end? Life could simply be one continuous period if you wish it.

The handwriting of a loved one: to recognize the way someone dots their i’s or hooks their j’s is simply incredible. A movement so little as a jerk of the hand can give away a person’s entire nature. We feel these letters and words stretch out from the paper and wrap themselves around us, providing comfort and security. Note that it is possible a warm, tingling sensation will creep from the stomach into the heart like ants to their hill.

The pigment of skin: like chameleons, human beings possess the ability to change their skin color. Unlike chameleons, they depend on the their biggest star for this power. Please also regard the magnificent variety between tones, I have never seen a more beautiful coat than one of skin.

Death: the last mystery. Whether finally put back inside the earth or scattered into the wind, the questions are not answered. I have discussed theories with countless individuals who offer me ideas of heaven and hell, reincarnation, and an afterlife. I beg them to consider if we ever really die, since time is a man made concept.

Lawrence,

This letter is not intended to be persuasive, my apologies if it is made out that way. I came to this place expecting to be amazed. After all, it is only ever advertised as paradise. After 29 months, my feet have become sore, my eyes tired, and my face freckled. I do not love earth, but love still exists on earth. More than love, magic exists in this place that I have never encountered before. My findings are proof of the miracles and curiosities of this living jungle.

I wish you all the best in your research,

Julius
