&quot;Love is a smoke, made from the fume of sighs&quot;<br /> -William Shakespeare

a flash of light,
the blink of an eye and there before me was a thin clear reflecting pool of water,
standing vertically,
forever changing my fate.
i walked up to it,
placing my hand aginst its cool surface.
yet, when i brought my hand back it was dry.
i looked away once
reterning atention once again to the pool
A hydious figure stood before me. a mere reflection in the pool.
it was a figure of a nameless, faceless rememberence.
suddenly this creature shifted and bore familier eyes,
eyes that were my own.
They contained no life
nor soul,
and were as black as night.
almost as if they were nothing but hollow eye sockets.
it slowly shifted into my figure, studying me
to bear no imperfections.
as it finished its transition i noticed its skin was as sickly as ash
and bore scars,
both old and new,
wrapping around its body.
the creature lifted its shacky, boney finger pointing to me,
to the place that marked the location of my heart,
then back towards itself.
the stranger tilted its head to one side
turning its hand over, palm up revealing a beating heart, drumming away in its cold,
dead hand.
the hearts beating filled my ears getting louder and louder, piercing my eardrums
causing them to bleed.
overwhelmed with my pain i screamed.
A silent scream that bore no sound.
the creature sneered and choked out in a ringing of many voices
" im bleeding out."
with heart still beating in one hand the creature lifts the opposite hand to its face.
peeling it off as if it were a banana peel.
droping the face to the ground, shattering into a million pieces as it hits the clear floor. horrified i stare,
wide eyed at the faceless creature.
it moves forward,
3 steps...
four steps...
5 steps
6
towards me.
reaching out for me it keeps a slow stride causing me to panic and jerk backwards trying to move. I tried and tried but couldnt move away,
it was as if my feet were glued to the floor.
the creature stepped through the relections pool
and grasped my hand.
i tried to release myself but couldnt pry my arm from its iron grip.
pulling me towards it walking back,
into the paralell side from whence he came.
The creature then threw me aside and took my place on the other side of the pool.
I attempted to walk through it again to find it had turned to glass,
and no matter how much i puched or beat the glass i couldnt break through it.
Then, as if struck by lightning,
a pain so undescribable took over my body causing me to release a blood curtling scream.
Louder and louder, and louder i screamed as my body twisted and renched.
It felt as if a deadly acid or poison was taking over my body, corrupting the blood that pumped through my veins.
Tears spilled from my eyes like a never ending river,
but as i lifted my hand to wipe away the tears
the liquid was red...
and it gave off the aroma of iron. No matter what i did the blood kept pouring and pouring from my eyes.
my mouth tasted of iron,
as i spat to find blood there too. after that
my ears and fingertips;
I soon grew hazzy watching to crimson liquid drip from my body. Flashes of black and white filled my sight,
confusing my brain from night and day.
I collapsed to the ground,
unable to have enough strength to keep myself up.
knowing what was happening i crawled toward the glass reflection.
and with the glass and all the strength i had i pushed myself upward to meet the gaze of the creature,
to find myself staring back;
only it wasnt me.
I was still the one bleeding, dying.
It had a sly,
half smile plastered on its lips, as a low,
deep laugh arose from its throat. i begin to loose feeling in my legs as creature reaches through the glass;
grabing my throat in an iron grip.
I had no strength to fight back as it lifted me up off the ground.
I watched helplessly as it raised its hand ready to strike.
Yet,
what i thought was the final blow, was really the most malevolent act of torture i could ever endure.
It threw me aginst the glass, takeing grasp of my throat once again.
It pryed open my mouth,
snaping my jaw in two.
Screaming
i watched it lift its hand approaching the opening of my mouth,
pushing its hand down my throat till it took hold of my heart, ripping it out as it beated in its hand.
I collapsed, drowning, suffocating on my own blood.
The room was filled with my gurgling cries,
Yet i didnt die.
The creature took my beating heart and left me on the ground lying in a pool of blood.
A good while later the creature returned
for final satisfaction,
towering over me it returned to its origional hidious form.
Took a knife its its hand and cut open my chest. Drinking the blood filled corpse as if it were water. everything faded into black as my muffled screams died along with me.
