It all started our junior year of high school. Avi and I were what you could call loners. That is until one day “The Krew” came up to us and told Avi to come with them. They told her she was one of them now and she shouldn’t protest to it or I would never see her again. That’s where everything started falling apart. They gave her drugs, got her in fights, made her drink, and I had to watch it all happen. Then I made the biggest mistake ever..
I couldn’t stand to see them throw my sisters life away just for the fun of it. It was to the point she was beginning to like it. So I told. I told our parents. I told the councilor. I told the pastor at our church. But none of them knew what to do. And I don’t know how it got back to “The Krew” so quickly. All I know is I had no clue where they were taking me.
After riding in the dark for what seemed like hours, we finally stopped. I heard voices, then something hard stuck my back. They were dragging me. It felt as if we were in the woods but I wasn’t very sure, but I was sure that something horrible was about to happen. Then I heard something you never want to her from your sister.. “What are we gonna do with her now?” she said. I was terrified of what she’d turned into. I started to speak, but before I knew what was happening, something hit me in the head and I was in the air.
When I woke up, I was hanging above the “Krew” and Avi. She looked at my angrily, but suddenly her face looked sad. She turned to the side and I could see she had a gun in her hand. “I’m so sorry Aly, but you shouldn’t have spoke up..”, she said. Avi lifted the gun right to my face, but then she turned to Dante, the “Krews” leader, and pulled the trigger. “I can’t take this anymore, it’s over.” Then she fired two more shots. After that we heard sirens, and I couldn’t make out much more, except that my sister had just saved my life.
When it was all over, I didn’t know what to do but hug her. I always knew my sister could never become one of ‘them’. Now we are closer and nothing could ever tear us apart like that again. We’re the perfect duo now. Nothings gonna change that!
