My mom used to tell me I was like a horse, because I have long legs, I’m very sensitive, and she always told me I was free spirited. I and mom always rode horses together every day. Now that she’s gone I haven’t even tried riding. Now it’s just me, my dad and my two brothers. Our family hasn’t been the same since mom passed away. We barely talk to each other anymore. Dad is always gone on business, so our baby sitter Linda always stays with us. My brother Charlie was only 2 when mom died he is four now. He has a very creative imagination. He is very smart for his age, but he is always getting into trouble. My older brother Brian is the troublemaker in the family. He is always gone with his friends. Sometimes he is gone for days without any communication. Linda is very nice and reminds me of my mom which is why I love her so much.

It’s starting to become November which is when daddy is gone the most. This November isn’t going to be like any other one though. This November will change our family forever.

It was the beginning of November and the first fall leaves were beginning to fall from the trees. It was warm with a cool breeze. I was outside on the porch with Linda and Charlie was down by the horses playing one of his games. This game was one of his favorites it was when he pretended the horse was a monster he has to destroy to save the kingdom. Brian was somewhere probably making trouble. All of sudden me and Linda heard a loud nay come from the horse and then he started running. We look to see Charlie on the ground and he wasn’t moving.

It took me a minute to figure out what was happening. By the time I came back to reality Linda was already down there with Charlie. She was yelling at me to call 911. I ran as fast I could to the phone. It felt like forever before the ambulance got there. Charlie still hadn’t woke up. They rushed him to the hospital. I had already called my dad and he was on his flight back home.

I and Linda rode in the ambulance with Charlie. When we arrived at the hospital they rushed Charlie into an operating room. All me and Linda could do was wait. Finally Brian arrived at the hospital he looked like he ran all the way from our house to the hospital. He also looked very scared and worried which I have never seen before. Dad arrived late that night. He also looked very worried.

It was probably about 3 that morning when the doctor came and told us that Charlie had been hit in the head by the horse and doesn’t look like he will make it. All of sudden dad started crying. I haven’t seen my dad cry since mom’s funeral. Brian was crying as well as Linda. Then I seen something I had never seen in my dad do in his life. He started praying. He said “Dear Lord please do not take my son oh please don’t take my son. I promise you that if he lives I will go to church every Wednesday and Sunday. I will be a better father to my kids. Pease Lord gives me another chance.”

That night was a very hard night for all of us. We all stayed at the hospital that night. Then that morning something amazing happen. Charlie woke up. Looking and felling better than ever. The first thing he said was “I saw mom.” Then we all started crying.
Charlie got to go home the next day. The doctors said it was a miracle. We all went home. We did something that we never did before we all ate dinner together and watched a movie. I was so shocked but happy too.

That Sunday we all went to church. And since that day our family has not missed a Wednesday or Sunday of church.
Brian finally got his grades to A and Bs. He doesn’t cause trouble anymore and he is even in the church’s youth group. Charlie has been in perfect health since that day. He finally started school and he stills plays his games. Dad stays home a lot more. He preaches at our church now. Linda comes over every night to have dinner with us and. As for me I ride my horse to me and moms special place every day.

It’s amazing how much your life can change by having a little faith and hope. I thank God everyday for what he has blessed me with and that he made our family a family again.
