“Hey mom can we go to Disney world?” I begged my mom for at least the tenth time that day.
“It’s not that simple Brennan” my mom explains
“Brennan I don’t have the energy to make dinner tonight let alone go to Disney World with five boys and sometimes six (my Dad, who my mom considers a child sometimes),” My mom says to me

“But mom,” I say whining a little

“Unless you want to quit baseball this summer we also do not have enough time to go to Disney World,” my mom adds.

“Whatever” I yell walking away
I walk away sad and disappointed. As I am disappointed I sit on my couch watching Sports Center, I sit on my couch thinking to myself why parents seem to hate kids like me.
“Brennan we have to pack we are going to our aunt’s house,” my brother says to me
As I begin to pack I am saddened by the thought that I maybe never will get to go to Disney World and my childhood might not be complete without going. I pack all the things I will need for my aunt’s house. I pack my blankie and my tooth brush and some longs sleeved shirts and long pants because it gets very cold in Boston. I also pack my pillow for the trip up in case I get a little sleepy. As my brothers and I pack my mom and dad seem to slip into the office and talk about something. The little rascal that I was when I was eight put my ear to the door and listened to what they were saying. “How should we tell them?” my mom asks my dad

“I have no idea I think we should surprise them,” my dad says back to my mom

“That would be great, I think Brennan is really going to be surprised,” My mom said to my dad.

As I thought about the words that my parents just said I got very confused, my little 8 year old brain could not put together what my parents were talking about. As my parents talked some more I got bored and walked to get my shoes on to get into the car.

“Hey guys me and dad have something to tell you guys,” my mom said with a huge smile on her face.

“Yes” we all said back wondering why dad had a video camera out and filming us.

“You guys can’t bring your pillows on the trip, and should change your jeans to bathing suits!” my mom said with the biggest smile I had ever seen on her face

“What?” we all said at once with confused faces

“We are going on a plane to Disney World!” my mom yells with excitement

“Oh my god!” we all yelled with big smiles on our faces and jumping up and down

“Wait a second” I say pointing to my mom

“Yes?” my mom says smiling knowing what I am going to ask her

“I asked you about a million times if we could go to Disney World, and the whole time you were planning this?” I ask my mom

“Yup” my mom said smiling
As our mom explained more about what hotel we were staying in and explaining how she kept it all a secret, I just sat in the car on our way to the airport thinking about how awesome my parents were and how much they loved me.
