The Tales of Czerloc and Darr

Once upon a time, far in the depths of the woods, were two villages separated by a sparkling stream and an old, creaky bridge. The bridge was dusty and unused. No one ever used it, for the two villages were very unfriendly with each other, and they refused ever to cross to the other side of the bridge. In one of the villages, named Czerloc for its founder, there was a kind old wizard who loved to help other people, and always tried to use his magic to help the villagers. The villagers there were very friendly and generous, and never turned down anyone that came to them for help.

On the other hand, over the bridge to the other village, the wizard was a greedy and vicious person. He would shoo away anyone that came to him for help. The village was named Darr by its leader, because he thought it was a fierce name. It suited the village well, for its residents were unfriendly and mean. They accepted only Darrians in their land, and they would heartlessly turn down anyone that asked for help.

One day, the villagers heard loud stomping, and looked up to see a giant Cyclops starting down at them. He was big and hairy, and had one big yellow eye in the middle of his forehead. His skin was a shade of olive green and his clothes were all torn and ripped. Everyone ran in panic and scurried to the ditches in fear of the Cyclops. The only people that didn’t hide were the knights of both villages and the wizard. The Cyclops roared and charged at the villages.

The brave knights rushed at the Cyclops with their swords above their heads. The other knights were a bit cowardly and stayed back. Both wizards flipped through their spell books, but they couldn’t find the right spell. The wizards ran into each other as they rushed to the Cyclops.

“What are you going to do?” asked the Czerlocian wizard.

“I’m going to use my kill spell to kill the Cyclops!” said the wizard of Darr.
It was then that the Darrian realized the kill spell doesn’t work on Cyclops.

“We’ll have to work together to stop the Cyclops!” shouted the wizard of Czerloc.

“Don’t you realize that we don’t like you and that we are not going to team up with you?” the wizard of Darr said.
He changed his mind when he looked at all of the fallen and dead knights on the battlefield.

“Fine!” exclaimed the wizard of Darr, “We’ll work with you!”

“We must combine our powers and hit him with the confusion spell, then we will take away his ability to swim, and our knights will push him into the stream. He will drown and we will be saved!” decided the wizard of Czerloc.

The Darrian wizard used his time-slower spell and announced the plan to all of the knights, and he called all of the knights who had stayed behind. Even though the Czerlocians and the Darrians despised each other, they knew that with teamwork, the plan would be a success. The wizard of Darr returned time to normal, and the plan was in action.

The Czerlocian wizard let out the signal. Both wizards chanted, ‘Distraction, distraction, confusion, distraction!’, and the Cyclops froze and looked like he just woke up on another planet. With a shout of ‘Swimming ability be no more!’, the Cyclops’s arm went limp. Then, with a shout of ‘Heave!’ from the knights, the Cyclops fell backwards, and toppled into the stream with an enormous splash. The villagers cheered as they watched the Cyclops sink to the bottom, and as green blood rose to the top of the water.

The Cyclops was defeated, thanks to the two heroes, which were undoubtedly the two wizards. Both of the villagers realized how important friendship and teamwork were, and they combined villages into one big town. They also replaced the old, creaky bridge with a new one, and now, it was very busy. Now, there was one unified friendly town. They named it Czarr.
