The Treasure Hunt
“You have the coolest parents ever, Skylar,” one of my best friends, Sasha, told me after I told her that I was bringing her Nikki, and Chloe camping with me and my friends.
“Sasha’s right, I am so excited!” Nikki said.
“Me too!” Chloe squealed.
Just after that the bell rand and another Thursday started. The next day we would go camping at my parents cabin until the next Friday, only because we had off of school.
The next day we all met up at my house and loaded up the back of my car and ten-minutes later we were on the road on our way to the campsite. The ride wasn’t interesting but it wasn’t boring. Pretty much the whole ride was filled with talking, listening to music, and a whole lot of squealing.
Two hours later the car finally came to a stop and we were finally there. It was late but that didn’t stop us. We were so excited! We flooded out of the car raced to the trunk to receive our bags, and sped inside to unpack our items. Later that night we watched movies and fell asleep.
The next day we woke up and it was very hot outside so we decided to go to the campground pool. We spent hours of tanning, talking, and swimming.
“Hey, Sky, look at this! It’s a flyer for a treasure hunt that is going on this week!” Sasha announced.
“This looks like fun! It ends on Thursday! So it would end in time for us to enter! All we have to do is go to the meeting tomorrow at noon!” Nikki said.
“Okay we can go it will give us something to do,” I agreed
The next day we woke up so late we almost didn’t make it to the meeting. When we got there the lady announced that instead of it ending on Thursday it would end at five o’clock that night but the list would be shorter and easier as well. All we had to do to win was find everything on the list in on Sunday first and we win.
After the meeting we read over the list. The list said we had to find the following items: a towel, a fishing rod, a piece of fire wood, and a cup of lake water. If we did we would win$100.00 and then we would split it up $25.00 each.
“Let’s get the lake water first, Sky,” Sasha suggested. So we headed to the lake with a container and took some water. We noticed only one other person from the contest there so we headed to the shed for a fishing rod and took one of those.
“Hey, I have a towel; let’s just use mine I don’t really mind as long as I get it back.” Chloe suggested. By then we had two out of three things left and it was 4:40 so we had then minutes to get a piece of fire wood. We ran to the wood pile and found other groups there so we grabbed a piece and ran.
We arrived at the place we had to be and we weren’t the first but all of the others were missing items.
“And the winners are…. Nikki, Sasha, Chloe, and Skylar!” the lady on the microphone said. Right then and there we decided that this was the best vacation ever!
