Dear John,

First off, happy anniversary! It’s hard to believe that already three years ago, I married the man of my dreams. Wish you were here to celebrate with me!

Lilly walked for the first time last week. Luckily, I got it all on video so you can watch when you get home. She looks so much like you. She has the same bright blue eyes, and her hair is blonde like mine. I decided to take up scrapbooking, so you can look at pictures of all the moments you missed. Plus, it brings out my creative side. All the neighbors love her, especially the girl across the street. I think maybe in a few years, she would be a great babysitter!

Your parents visited me and Lilly a few days ago. They took us out to lunch, and then we took Lilly to the park. Lilly absolutely loves the swings. Don’t worry, your mom and dad are amazing grandparents! Your dad started building Lilly a swing set. It will be nice not having to walk to the park all the time. I just know she’s going to love it!

We all miss you so much, John. Even Cooper misses you, I can tell. Sometimes I find him sleeping under your desk like he used to when you were up late working in your office. He’s very protective of Lilly. It’s so cute to watch! If she falls asleep on the floor with her blanket, he’ll lay right next to her. Having a good dog like Cooper around makes me feel safe. You were right! Chocolate labs are great dogs!
Waiting gets so hard sometimes, but I try my best to be patient. I have to be strong, so you can be strong. But please, just know how proud I am of you. How proud your parents are, and how proud the community is. As painful as it is without you here, I know you’re serving our country.
I pray for you every day, John. I pray that you and your team are kept safe. I pray you do the best you can at whatever you do, and I pray that when I write you, you write back quickly. I love hearing from you! Whenever you write me, I make sure I respond as soon as I can because I know, the sooner I send you a letter, the sooner I receive one. I really appreciate all of the pictures you send, and I hope you enjoy the pictures I send you!
I always think about you. I think about what you’re doing, and how’re you’re feeling. I wonder about whether you think about me as much as I think about you. I bet I think about you more!
I’m looking forward to your homecoming. According to last letter you sent me, I think you come home in about 5 months.
Everyone says “Hi”, and they hope you’re doing well. I love you so, so much.
Take care,

Your Soulmate, Wife, and Best friend
