Retrieving Jordan
Retrieving Jordan
Everyone says the grass is always greener on the other side, but I’m not sure about that statement. I, Elisa live in Heaven, nothing could be better than this. I have lived here practically my whole life, this place called “Heaven” is simply wonderful. For there are white fluffy cotton clouds that can be sat on, long elegant waterfalls with crystal clear water, and lots of other pretty light colored plants. I had never dreamt of the other side, its dark and dull. For this one time everyone isn’t correct, nothing is better than heaven.
Most angels have to do a task in order to fulfill their life, when they are around the age 17 that's when we receive our task. Some have simple tasks like having to care of the things in heaven, watching the barrier, and other simple things. Then some have more difficult ones like having to cross over into Hell to retrieve someone, and bring them back to Heaven. It just happens to be that my task is to retrieve Jordan Ellis, and bring him back to heaven. Jordan was a troublemaker while growing up, and died at a young age. So I have to see if he is willing to change his ways, and get him safely back to heaven. It may seem easy, but I bet you have never seen the barrier between Heaven and Hell.
Its almost like a dead war zone. I’ve only heard of it, but everyone describes it as a dull place with no color, they say no one has been there since the great war that happened between Heaven and Hell. Many years back there was a great commotion between the two and a war erupted. Many lives from the two were lost and never forgotten. To this day there hasn’t been an angel with the same task as me for a while, for most of them don't survive. Everyone thought there would never be a task like this again, till it showed me on the “God Cloud” that I would be finding Jordan.
Once everyone heard of this news, I was sent out to fulfill my task and bring Jordan back without knowing if I would survive. It took me a day to arrive at the barrier. I had to look away at first, it’s so different from Heaven. It had thick fog resting all over the ground, dead trees that did not hold life anymore, blood still staining the hard, dry ground like it had just happened days ago, and it was so windy tumble weeds were caught in the wind like a tornado. I knew the angel at the barrier gate, he was just three years older than I. I feel horrid that his task is to watch over the barrier, he probably never sees anyone anymore, because no one ever comes over here since the war.
I had to start the conversation, “Hey, it’s Roman, right? Man you must be bored all the time watching this, does anything ever happen out here?” I asked wonderingly.
“Yes. And you are, Miss Elisa? Yes it can get very boring out here. Once in awhile there is slight movement out there, not from the people from Hell but simply little creatures that have survived in this harsh environment.” He answered honestly.
“Well I guess I am going to have fun on the other side then. It’s nice to talk to someone else before leaving here, because I am not sure what is really going to happen. So maybe I will see you again, and if I don’t....Well I don’t know. I hope I come back.” I said helplessly.
“Yes, it was really nice to talk to someone. And I wish you the best of luck over there. And hope you are able to make it back.” He was a really sweet guy, and I truly wish I would be coming back to see him.
The metal gate creaked open from a long sleepless nap. My heart started to race. I have no idea what lies ahead of me, but I hope it all goes well. Once the gate was open I would have a long troubling journey ahead of me. I knew, I could get Jordan and get back to Heaven. I just have to have faith in myself to get me all the way to Jordan and back to Heaven. My foot hit the hard dusty ground, and that’s when my journey began.
