An Unfortunate Day
Okay so here's a little about myself. My names Jenna, I'm twenty-three and in my last year of studying criminal justice. I live in the suburbs but want to move to Los Angles to study the gangs and the high rate of crime. Somebody I will run the crime system in Los Angels...
Anyways, it was a normal day. I woke up went to school and went to my classes. I over heard some of the teachers talking to the police about a student missing. Probably because of her involvement in a big case. I didn't think much about it and kept walking, I was hungry. It was normal to here about missing people, murders and other things so I didn't think twice about it. I was ready for lunch.
I went a back way to avoid the traffic. The way I went could be kind of dangerous but I could not be late for my next class, my teacher was a witch. As I was driving on A Street, with my luck, I get in a finder binder. Of course this would happen too me. I am kind of scared to get out of the car because I did not know who I had hit. The man got out of his car and walked up to mine. He looked nice. I got out, but still definitely kept my distance. He seemed really sweet until I went and looked at his car to see the damage. He got nervous, I could feel the energy. It made me feel out of place but I did not let this man see that. As I made my way around the car I saw something I was not excepting to see at all. I stood there in disbelief. I could not fathom what I was seeing. I know I should have been prepared and not so shocked to see something like this but it caught me totally off guard. I could not do anything but stare. The man tried to cover it up but it was obviously there.
There was dead body was most definitely laying in his trunk, I know I was not seeing things.
After looking at the body, trying to see a face or marking to report it to the police the man got in his car and sped away. I got his license plate hoping, it was his car he was driving. I got in my car totally forgetting I had to go back to class and tried catching up with this man. I really wanted to know why he had a dead body or whose it was. I catch up to him but be sure he can't see me. I watch him pull into this driveway so I park at the end of the street and just watch him. He gets out of his car (I'm not sure if he locked it), goes inside and doesn't come out. I have a feeling in my stomach telling me to go look but then my brain is saying no. I think about it, not for long though.
Just imagine if I solved a murder case that wasn't even assigned to me heck, I'm still a student this would totally jump start my career, I think to myself.
I am also very interested on figuring out what was going on. So, I jump out of my car and carefully watch my surroundings. I approach the house, and the man is watching tv. I get scared and think about turning back but I know I can't, I am already so close. Finally, I get to the trunk and luckily the car is unlocked. I open the trunk and start to look, I try to get clues, DNA, anything that could help me identify this person. I don't get anything, in fact right was I'm about to open the bag the body was in I hear something, footsteps. I freak out, I have no clue what to do.
What if this man sees me looking in his car will he kill me too? I cant help all these terrifying thoughts going through my head.
You will never guess what I do next...
I jump in the car, stupidest mistake of my life. I have no clue who this guy is and what he is going to do but for some reason I feel a very important reason to find out who this person is. Even though they are dead I felt connected to them. It was the strangest thing. I pray that he just forgot something in his car but oh no, that would be to easy. I heard the engine crank and my heart dropped to my stomach. I thought that that exact moment was my last moment. As we drive off the man abruptly stops and I heard his car door open, I was so confused. Where were we? I lay in the trunk, shaking, waiting for him to open it but he never does. I have my phone on me so I check were I am. Turns out, we didn't go far at all. I need to think of a plan before I run out of time. I decide that I am going to call one of my older professors that is a retired FBI agent.
I call him and talk quietly, he is shocked but stays calm. He asks me to explain everything I know, so I tell him. I tell him everything I know which isn't much. My professor asks me to do the hardest thing yet, I was not prepared for this. I was not ready for any of this. Anyways, I do what he asks and I open the bag. I look at the face and couldn't believe who it was. I can't talk, their is a huge bubble the size a baseball in my throat. The professor keeps asking, "who is it, are you okay? ". I still couldn't talk. He tells me I need to calm down and take deep breathes. He reminds me if I do not tell him what I see he can't help.
I get the nerve to finally tell him who it was, it was the hardest thing to admit I am laying face to face next to my dead classmate.
It finally makes since, this is what the teachers and police were talking about, this is who was missing. I listen to what he says and I wait in the trunk. I wait and wait, it feels like hours I am waiting for the police to arrive. Once they arrive and everyone in the house tries to run. The police catch them all. As the police do all there work I stand by my murdered friend, and just look at her. Why would they want her? Why would they want to kill her? Turns out that she was an intern on this huge drug case. She found something out no one else knew and made it very obvious that she knew something. She personally threatened the drug dealers which wasn't a good idea. Anyways, they bought her threat, they were scared. She made a deal with them that if they stop she wouldn't turn in the extra information. They did not trust her but they agreed to the deal. Well that's what she thought. When actually, they all knew from the beginning that they were going to kill her because, the information she had was very top secrete. Even if she wouldn't have turned it in, it was dangerous for her to know what she did.
They followed her everyday. Everywhere she went, they went. Towards the end she could feel something was wrong and somebody was watching her every move but it was too late. Before she could do anything about it, they got her and then thats it, she was gone. The drug dealers got busted for their drugs and also went to jail because of first degree murder.
Everyday, I wake up and do my job for my friend, my co-worker and my classmate. She is the reason I still what I do.
