My Backstage Adventure

All of a sudden his hand grabs mine. It's sweaty and clammy, but I squeeze and hold onto it anyway. As he pulls me onto the stage the crowd starts screaming. It's hard for me to think straight as my heart starts beating out of my chest. As the acoustic guitar strums the first few chords of his chart topper hit, he pulls me closer to him. As he starts to sing "My heart belongs to you" he looks straight into my eyes. The song goes on and he spins and twirls me around. I feel like we are the only two people in the world. Then all of a sudden he gets down on one knee.

Omg, he's going to propose!
A big smile forms across my face an my heart starts.

He grabs by hand and asks, "Aria, will you..."
"Aria, Aria, Aria, ARIA."

My eyes shoot open and I see my mother standing over me. She's dressed in her normal work attire. A black pencil skirt and a white blouse. Her hair is pinned back from her face in a bun. That's not what I want to see first thing in the morning. I put my pillow over my face to tune her out.

"Aria get up your going to be late for school. I swear your seventeen years old! It's time to grow up. I can't keep waking you up everyday. You have to start becoming an independent young woman!" she says as she walks out of my room.

As my mom leaves I stare at my ceiling at the Nate Young poster above my bed. As I look into Nate's dreamy brown eyes I feel like we are the only two people in the world, just like in my dream.
My dream...
Why couldn't that have been reality. Who am I kidding Nate would never love me. I'm not good enough for him. He only dates the Ashley Turner's of the world.

Ashley Turner is the most popular girl in school. Her dad is mega rich so she gets everything she wants with the snap of her manicured finger. She's captain of the cheer team, all of the guys want to date her and every girl wants to be her. Including me.

My name is Aria Taylor. You know that girl in the back of the class that just sits their with her head in her books. Well... thats me. I'm never the center of attention, but I always wish that one day I could be the prettiest girl in the room and have all eyes in me. I wish all of the guys would want to date me. But, it's not like I would date them anyway. I only have one guy in mind. Nate Young. The seventeen year old mega superstar and A+ hottie. He's had so many number one hits I can't keep track and he's even won like ten Grammys. I hope to be known as Mrs. Young one day, but I know he would never date me. He would much rather date Ashley Turner, which is why she's sitting front row at his concert this Friday. Unlike me who will be sitting at home. With no ticket. Crying my eyes out, because my overprotective mom won't let me go. It's not like I could even go. It's sold out anyway.

When I'm done getting ready for school I run down stares, grab a granola bar, and jump into my car. I plug in my phone, turn on Nate Young Pandora, and race to school.

As i'm standing at my locker getting ready for first period someone comes from behind and bear hugs me. It's my best friends Abigail. But, I call her Abby. We've been best friends since I could remember. Except we are total opposites. Abby is miss girly. Her hair, makeup, and outfits are always perfect. While I always wear my hair in a pony, jeans, and converse. The less I stand out the better. That's probably why we're best friends. I keep her sane while she keeps me on my toes.

"OMG! You are never going to believe what I got us!" she says as she's jumping up and down. With how excited she looks you would think that Zac Efron is right down the street.
"WHAT?" I ask. Now she's getting me excited.
"Oh, you know just TICKETS TO THE NATE YOUNG SHOW tomorrow night!" Abby says while pulling out the tickets.
"How did you...what...OMG, no you didn't." All of a sudden I feel faint and like my legs are about to give out. I rest my head on my locker to cool me down. I'm so excited I can hardly breathe.
"Well my dad ran into one of his old high school friends and turns out he's one of the security guards working the concert. So he gave my dad two complementary tickets."

This is finally going to be my chance to meet him.

"Wait, what about my mother. She'll never let me go."
"Just leave that part up to me. Right now all we have to focus on is what we're going to wear."
"You can focus on that. I have to study I can't go, my mom would never let me. I would just wear jeans and converse anyway." I say as I start walking to class.
"Aria, you have to get out of this comfort zone of yours. Be daring and spontaneous.
Stop hiding behind your books and start living. Come one let me help you out. With a little lipstick and some heels, you'll feel like a new women."

When Friday morning rolled around I was so excited. I couldn't sleep the night before so I was basically running on adrenaline. After school Abby came over to help me get ready. She brought a drop dead gorgeous outfit and helped with me with my hair and makeup. I wore a black strapless French Connection cocktail dress with red wedges. Abby curled my hair and made me wear red lipstick. At first I wasn't used to it, but then I felt confident and sophisticated. No wonder Abby always cared about looks. Abby looked gorgeous as usual. She wore a nude mesh BCBG dress and black booties. She even wore dark eye makeup that made her eyes pop. We looked like two supermodels about to walk the runway.

After we got ready we got in the car and were off. We tuned on the radio and of corse one of Nate's songs started to play. I couldn't stop looking at myself. I actually looked pretty. I couldn't believe it... me...pretty.
"You were right Abbs, I feel like a new women."
"Tonight's your night girl. This is the night were you can stand out and be anything or anyone you want to be. Don't worry about Ashley or anyone else's opinion. Believe you are good enough and any guy would be lucky to have you. Even Nate Young."
Be anyone I want to be?
"Thanks Abbs. Tonights going to rock."

"We can't see anything from up here. I'll never meet Nate." I said with disappointment in my voice. Our seats were in the nose bleed section and I couldn't see a thing.
"I'm sorry Ar. I thought we would have better seats." as she said that smile formed across her face.
"Well I know how we can change that." Abby said as she got up from her seat.
"Uh Oh I know that face. You have a plan. Were are you going? What about the concert?" I say as I follow her toward the exit.
When I catch up to her I grab her by the shoulders and turn her to face me.
"Aria chill out. If we can't get better seats we might as well try to meet him."
"Meet him. How... How do plan on making that happen?" I say as I cross my arms over chest.
"We'll just sneak backstage."
"Sneak backstage? Are you crazy? Forget it. It's not like he'll want to talk to us anyway!" I say as I start to walk back to our seats.
"Aria come on, live a little. We'll just sneak back there and see what happens. The worst they can do is throw us out."
"We could miss the show! I would rather see him from our section then not see him at all."
"Well that's a risk I'm going to take. Come on, Aria. Tonight's you night. Take a risk. You'll never know if you don't try." she said with a huge smile on her face.
"Ok I'm in." As soon as I say that I instantly regret it.
"Ok here's the plan."
