Life Concave
It all started when I was lying in my bed, surrounded by my good friends; forks, knives, and
spoons alike; who I spend my whole life with. It is about six in the afternoon when the ceiling peels
back to allow the entrance of an enormous monster who grabs nine of us total: three spoons, forks and
knives. The monster carries us to huge flat plateau, where other dishes and silverware already reside,
quivering in fear for the coming ordeal.
I am placed near the edge next to a huge flat dish who, by his scratches, appears to have
endured this before. I shake with anticipation, then 5 giant monsters approach the plateau, and sit
around it. One sits nearby and picks me up and plunges me into a thick, sweet smelling substance. When
the monster pulls me from the concoction, I am coated with the stuff, and a pile of it sits on top of my
face. Suddenly the monster thrusts me into his mouth. I scream as his terrible tongue scours me of the
sauce. I think this must be the end, licked to death while covered with a pungent slime. I can feel myself
start to black out as the monster pulls me out of the foul cavern.
I look around to view my other friends being treated equally barbarically. Before I can run or
hide, I am back in the clutches of the monster who repeats the process over and over until the ordeal
fades into a semi-conscious blur.
I come around to find myself being stuck into a basket, covered in filth, with all my comrades.
I see other dishes around, even more nervous-looking than before. We slide back into a large cavern,
when the door closes and all goes black. We sit in the inky blackness, wondering what torture they have
for us this time.
A loud hiss punctures the silence, and boiling rain begins to shoot from above as the floodgates
of hell break loose from below. The water scalds me all around as all filth melts of my body. The hellish
downpour continues for five minutes then it suddenly stops. We are in relief, in the terrible illusion that
we have survived.
A white liquid starts to bubble up from the floor. Enormous orbs of the liquid starts to form,
encasing all that are within reach. Similar spheres form above us and fall from a dizzying height to crash
among the dishes. Within minutes, each of us is coated in the slippery substance.
As my eyes burn from the vile liquid, I hear the terrible hiss again, and again the scalding rain
falls. The blazing deluge burns all traces of the slippery substance off my body, and the rain stops. My
skin feels naked, burnt, and abnormally smooth.
After twenty minutes of steaming in incredibly hot and humid conditions, the monster returns
and opens the door. As we slide out of the cavern of damnation, she removes us from our basket to
return us too our drawer. As we return to our comrades, we decide to hide the terrible ordeal, keep the
rest o f the dishes in blissful ignorance.
