Sitting in middle school when we started talking about the ALICE drills.
Barricade the door. No talking. Lights off. Blinds closed shut.
Police can escort us safely.
The class asked “why do we have to learn about this in school?”
“There was another school shooting,” the teacher says.
I thought school was supposed to be safe.
