Waiting for the Perfect Weight

Oh how she longed to be thin,
People wanting her to be perfect,
Waiting for her work to take effect,
She thought eating was a sin,
All the emotional distress you put her in,
Her weight made her a social reject,
  Her mind began to deflect-
And she thought she could win.
If only she could gain some weight,
  Her outer beauty would show,
  Why can’t she have curves?
  She seems really great,
  But her self-confidence is low.
And people’s words only get to her nerves.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. -Edgar Allan Poe
