Peace Tree

September 28, 2009
By Anonymous

To find some peace I climb atop a tree
My hands get cuts and stuck to sap on limbs
Careful not to rest on branches to short or slim
I pause to sit and breathe my legs hang free
The scent of pines and wood nostalgic to me
The rays of light from sun through clouds do skim
My face grows warm then cool when shine grows dim
At last up high I’ve found through nature, serenity
A peace that takes so long to try and find
A peace I found while looking for purpose and worth
A peace we all must feel when times aren’t kind
A peace we discover through time within this earth
A peace destroyed by closed, impatient minds
A peace I will take with me now and henceforth

This poem really took me on a calm, peaceful journey and realisation that I can see a whole different perspective on life if I look in the simple places. I felt like I was the one climbing the tree.
