Released in 1996, Robert Earl Keen Jr.'s "No.2 Live Dinner" can still be heard on my stereo. The album is live, with Keenin concert in Helotes, Texas at the John T. Floore's Country Store. The disc hasa few minor blemishes, like the microphones malfunctioning for a second or Keen'svoice going dry.

The album has 17 tracks, all of which are hitsthat have succeeded throughout country for years. Keen's style is a combinationof Willie Nelson's lyrics and Johnny Cash's traditional style of guitar. Thelyrics are comprised of adventures Keen has had over the years. "The RoadGoes on Forever" tells the story of an outlaw who has always lived on theedge, but is a believer in good deeds, like a modern-day Robin Hood. One of myfavorites, "Five Pound Bass," is about catching a huge fish.

Seventeen great pieces of Texas literature are captured here, along with17 outstanding songs composed by five wonderful musicians. Robert Earl Keen, Jr.combines funny, romantic and adventurous stories with diverse tunes that give mereason to understand why this album is my favorite.
