Do's and Don'ts of Fantasy Football for Yahoo
Fantasy Football is defined as “a competition in which participants select imaginary teams from among the players in a league and score points according to the actual performance of their players.” from Google.
By: Simon Cognasso from Olympia, Washington
Frustrated with your fantasy football team on Yahoo? Not getting enough points from your players? Well, here are the do’s and don’ts and review of Yahoo’s fantasy football leagues.
The first thing in any fantasy football league you join is the draft. I recommend mock drafts because it’s a way of practicing the draft and figuring out a strategy to use when you do the real draft. Yahoo lets you practice with mock drafts, that is very helpful. When it comes time for the real draft, here are the do’s and don’ts. In the first round, do get a Running Back. Running Backs go early in the draft because the good ones (like Arian Foster) get lots of points. They get from 15-20 points on a good day. Also, try to get a Running Back in the 2nd round. Don’t get a Receiver. There are 2 main receivers on each team, and 32 teams in the NFL. There will be enough left in the 2nd and 3rd round. Don’t get a Quarterback. Quarterbacks are more of a 3rd to 4th round pick because the Quarterback doesn't have to be great to produce good points. If you build around your team with a great Running Back and a great Receiver you will be fine with an adequate Quarterback. Those were the do’s and don'ts of the draft.
You’ve learned how to draft players in Yahoo's fantasy football , now you have to learn the do’s and don’ts of setting up your weekly roster in Yahoo’s fantasy football leagues. Yahoo has a great layout and it’s easy to use and they make it fun. Don’t start a player just because they have more projected points than the other. That does not mean they are better than the other. Expect the unexpected when it comes to fantasy football. Do start players with an easy opponent. If one of your starting players is playing the Oakland Raiders, you should play him because they will get a lot of points. Do start your best kicker. Kickers in fantasy football are very under rated. They can get you 15 points if they make field goals from 40-50 yards out. If players are on a bye week, don’t start them. You want to get points so, do start their backup. Don’t cut players who have bye weeks. It’s only one week without the player, and you can start your backup.
If you're not happy with your team by the end of the draft, you can pick up players off waivers and drop players to waivers. Yahoo makes it easy to trade players which is very important in Fantasy Football. Here are the do’s and don'ts of the waiver in Yahoo’s fantasy football league. Do drop kickers and defenses regularly. You should try to pick up the kicker and/or defense who has an easy opponent so that you get more points. Dont drop rookies. It takes awhile for rookies to have good weeks, but they progressively get better. Dont drop first round draft picks. Unless they are injured. When you pick up players, do pick up backups. Back ups get good amount of points even though they are not starters. Don’ pick up players who had one good week. Chances are he won’t have another good week so dont waste your time picking him up. Do pick up players for bye weeks. It’s good to do this so you get some points and not 0.
If you were to choose any sports website to start a fantasy football league in, I recommend Yahoo. Its easy, fun, and hassle free. I wrote this review to help people be successful in their leagues. So, in conclusion those were the do’s and don’ts of Yahoo’s fantasy football league.
