Alaska and Off-Shore Drilling

I am a strong supporter of drilling both Off-Shore and in Alaska. Valid arguments have been made on both sides, however I believe that if we don't drill it could lead to many problems for our country. Also, although it concerns many environmentalists, it's environmental impact may not be as big as anticipated. Alsthough I understand the potential downsides, I believe that Off-Shore and Alaska drilling is what's best for our country.

There are many advantages to drilling. It would help us solve the problem of high gas prices, therefore it would help millions of Americans. In addition, we could employ many Americans doing it. However, the most important thing is that it would help us decrease our dependence on foreign oil; therefore drilling would have a positive impact on the safety of our country. There may be downsides to drilling, but in my opinion, the pros outnumber the cons.

Despite what some environmentalists say, drilling may not have that big of an impact on the environment. Fuel has to come from somewhere, and don't forget, we're wasteing oil right now by having our fuel shipped overseas. In addition, drilling could help us fix the economy; which means that it would allow us to spend more money developing hybrid cars, renewable fuels and clean air technology. Also, if we continue our dependence on foreign oil, we could get into a national security conflict, wheich would destract us from the environmental conflict. To conclude, Alaska and Off-Shore drilling would have a poesitive impact on the economy and our safety; and it's environmental impact may not be as large as anticipated.
