Many people say we need gun control because of shootings and homicide in which 11,101 people were killed with a gun in the U.S, but think of all the people who were not killed or injured because they had a gun to protect themselves and their loved ones.

If owning a gun was a crime and were outlawed the crime rate would increase, gun smugglers could make more money selling and buying weapons. according to Patrick Kiger there is 310 million guns in the U.S. It would be near impossible for police to confiscate all of those guns. The amount of guns in the U.S is going up as well, 8 million guns are manufactured globally each year the U.S. buys 4.5 million guns each year according to Patrick Kiger.
Also, if guns were banned no one would hunt which would lead to a more overwhelming animal population. Which can cause more animals getting hit and damaging  peoples property  which would cause people to pay to fix it.
Some may argue, that guns kill people but if that is true cars drive drunk and pencils misspell words. To me that sounds ridiculous that guns kill people. People kill people, people pull the8trigger, reload the gun and aim it ,not the gun.
However, if guns were to be banned that would violate the second amendment which states that we have the right to own and store our weapons. This amendment was written by some of the greatest minds our country has ever seen.I strongly believe this is not what our ancestors would want us to do. All 50 states allow us to carry a concealed weapon to protect us and others.
Finally, Taking away guns would be like throwing away our history. This country was built on guns through the revolution, world wars and a civil war. Without guns we would not be the great and powerful country we are today we would be a small country or still be a british colony.
In conclusion, I believe gun control would be a very bad idea. yes, guns are the cause of many deaths but think of how many people guns protect and help out in our society today. Taking away guns would be unjust and unconstitutional. I believe the founding fathers would disagree with gun control as well. This is why I strongly believe we should not have gun control.
