eBooks VS print books
Society has changed rapidly and is discovering new types of technology each year. Some say that people put technology first, and in some cases this is true. Two students were arguing about how a new technology called an eBook may soon make print books go extinct. I will present to you what I found after analyzing Brandon and Isabel’s reasoning.
To begin, Isabel states,” They are fragile and can be damaged easily.” Ebooks are very fragile and expensive if it were to break. Isabel believes the print books are better because if you were to drop a book, you would simply pick is up, no damage done.
On the other hand, Brandon is for eBooks because they are better for the environment. He even supported this statement by using a quote from Dr. Janet Chen that says,” We cut down billions of trees every year to make paper, billions. Most of that paper goes into books, newspapers, and magazines.” Brandon believes that we need to stop using print books so we can save the environment by using eBooks.
Although the students were on different sides of the argument, both had some similar reasons on why or why not to use eBooks; I analyzed that their reason was health problems. Isabel started off by saying that the eBooks strain your eyes and damage your eyesight. Brandon then argued that he was more worried about his back and the problems that occur when carrying such heavy books.
I believe both students have very good points. It is important to know all the factors of the eBooks and print books, and I felt that both students gave great examples to support their thesis. I myself believe that we should take better care of the environment, but I love print books and their amazing new book smell and the feel of them. I also, enjoy using electronics and being able to use them to make my reading experience better. What side do you choose, eBooks, or print books?
