Why did Adele cross the road? To say hello from the other side! That cheesy joke might have just made your day, and that’s why laughter is so important.  It can help you make new friends, strengthen your relationships, help to get you through some dark times, and is even good for your health.

Laughter can start or strengthen friendships and relationships. You can bond with your friends and family, and even build trust through laughter.  Laughter can even help to stop a problem between you and your partner. For example, if you crack a joke during a fight that might just fix the problem.

Being healthy is a priority for all and laughter can help your mental and physical health. First, it eases the body by relieving physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed.  Second, laughing protects the heart by increasing blood flow.  Plus, it also triggers the release of endorphins and boosts the immune system.  What an awesome plus of having the giggles!

Finally, laughter can get you through some bad times. I personally went through a depression, but after meeting some new friends that helped me by bringing humor into my life, I was able to overcome the sadness. By laughing I was able to stop thinking of all my issues, and focus on the joy around me.

Just a little chuckle to a bad joke is enough to change someone’s day. Laughter is great medicine to help your mental state, find new friends, and make you a healthier person.   Laughter is the instant vacation you need to get your life into perspective.
