My First Love
When I was little, I didnt know much about love. I saw it. I felt it. It felt a lot like sadness.
As I grew up, I became more confused. I thought love was simply having someone. Never being alone, I always needed the comfort of another person. I thought that's what love was.
A little older and I thought I was in love. Simply because he stuck around. There was fighting, and anger, and sadness.
Then one day, pain. As I told my parents I was pregnant at 17.
I lost him, the boy who stuck around. But in return I got something better. My son.
I know love is different now. It's gentle, like the touch I use to comfort my son. It's the greatest love I could ever feel. My first true love.
