I see you there
I see you there
I see you there, Hope. Your unique imagination, and terrible ideas. The long days of school sitting out at recess on separate rocks. The fun days of hiding on the playground and playing games that we would not let anyone join. Holding hands as we walk through the halls, on the playground, and to the bathroom. My memories would be far less interesting had you not been my childhood best friend.
I picture you being shorter than all the rest of us, always hanging on my shoulders. Your long straight blonde hair. I picture you jumping on the trampoline dressed in a play dress creeping on your neighbor and throwing barbies into the tree. I picture your bare feet and adventurous attitude.
I see you there, beckoning me onto the roof, whispering in your still loud voice.
“Braylee come on, it will be fun.”
“Okay, I hope we don’t get in trouble.”
“We won’t.”
I think of the fun, the fights, the trouble. Everything that was built up to make us become childhood best friends. I see you there, Hope.
