"If not now, when. If not me, who?"

Dear Sevie,
Congrats!!!  If you are reading this letter, it means you survived getting to this class!  Don’t worry, I promise it will only get easier from here on out.  You will make an AMAZING seventh grader!  Please understand that when I call you ‘sevie’, I’m only saying it out of the kindness of my heart. <3  In turn, I’ll let you call me an ‘eighter-tot.’
Okay, I’ll admit that middle school can seem kinda crazy sometimes.  But you are the BEST SEVIE EVER, so you’ll handle it!  Don’t worry if your having troubles with you locker.  If your having trouble remembering your combo, write it on your hand as a back up.  If your locker’s jammed or malfunctioning, go to the office, and they can help you.  You won’t be marked tardy as long as you get a note from the office.  In the cafeteria, NEVER GET SCHOOL LUNCH ON THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF SCHOOL!  After that, the lunchroom begins to settle down.  (In case no one told you, your lunch number is your student ID#.)  When I came to this school, I only knew four people.  I was the only one from my elementary school.  At first, it was hard to make friends, because I’m super shy.  But, I began to introduce myself to others.  Many of my BFFs I met by simply saying “hi.”  So say hello. :D

In middle school, you may have some difficult classes.  As long as you do the work, you’ll be fine!  If things just aren’t making any sense, talk to your teacher.  They can help you before/after school.  Butler also  has tutoring programs.  You have options!!  I never found any of my classes too difficult, but juggling around the homework, studying, etc.. was not easy.  **Bonus information:  Teachers often give extra credit for creative/decorative assingments. (example- covering things with glitter) **

I wish you the best in all your middle school years! If you’re ever in need of a friend, ask for me! I’d love to meet you!

        Yours truly,
     Mercedes J

Middle school can be such a strange concept at first.  At my school, it was a tradition for each of the graduating seventh graders to write an advice letter to the incoming seventh grade class.  Here's my letter...
